Hi, you can download the Pepakura Designer 3 for free on the website http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ This version is shareware but you can use the software but with the save and export funtions disabled (before registring).

Armor Size

hello, I can not put the armor in my size, how can I do? how many centimeters allow for the thickness of the various parts? I heard a scaling formula for putting the pieces of the armor to the right size.

Anyone know how to do? for information, if it helps here are my measurement (188 centimeters and 83 kilograms).

Hello there, and welcome to the 405th. Ah, the pepakura step, a step of much joy, as well as much sheer frustration. This is a step that can require a bit of practice to get good at. When I made my first suit, I used HaloGodess' scaling tutorial. I think most of us can agree that it is one of the best you can find on this forum.

But, one thing you need to remember is that this step will require a lot of do-overs. This step requires guess-and-check throughout the entirety of its execution. So, just because you don't get it right the first time doesn't necessarily mean you are doing it wrong. Also, this scaling tutorial (along with all others) are more of a personal preference, and are really meant to steer you into the right direction, rather than give you exact measurements.

If you need any other help with pep work, my suit build in my signature may help you. I tried my best to go into detail on how pep work is done, so feel free to take a look if you need to.

I have read the halogodess tutorial but my problems are about the bicep/shoulder piece and gauntler piece. how i do to measure the length ? i must starting about the wirstbone to the below bone ? because in her tutorial, she speak about an inch of adjustment => "she say : measure to about an inch beyond your elbow bone". The same for the biceps. How have you make ?

Cereal Killl3r goes through the steps and tips necessary to get your pep to the right size, and in great depth. He even used the Mk VI forearm as an example.

Back on pep topic...

I've noticed a lot of people talking about using Super-glue and hot-glue for pepping.

Please, please, please - do yourself a favour and go buy a cheap one-litre bottle of PVA wood glue!!!

It is perfect for the job. It is cheap, fast, strong, doesn't stick your fingers together, doesn't require electricity and heat and is not messy at all. If you get it on your fingers, it just rolls off.

This. A thousand times this. Wood glue = Paper glue as Tree = Wood= = Paper. And UNLESS it is resin based you won't have issues.
Water based PVA wood gule peoples.

When you size a piece of armour, let's say, the thigh - measure the length of your thigh, add a little all round for padding and enter that in millimetres into the change scale dialogue box. For my Iron Man suit, I allowed 5mm all around for rondo and fibreglass, then 10mm all around for my padding.

You will notice the width and depth will change automatically, as well as the scale factor. Write down the "Scale factor".

With all your other pieces of armour, you can now enter the scale factor in each and the sizes should all be in proportion and fitting, unless you have an out-of-proportion body.

If you have a body like that, then just take the length measurements (height) and let the rest sort itself out.

Does that make sense?

Cheers,

Sandbagger.

As far as people choice of glue goes. That's just it! Their choice. I use a glue stick not pva and it works excellently. A picture of what I use is in my build that's on hold. And it dries quicker than pva glue. My recommendation to everyone is use a few different types / techniques and then use what works best for you. That's how I ended up that glue stick. Good luck to all and keep the builds coming. I will return to my build in a while and wow everyone.... Maybe...... Lol

My wish is to great a set of Halo 3 Marine armor by May next year for a convention, I have yet to start it... The question I need answering before I can begin is can Pepakura be printed on any printer, I have never actually held any Pepakura so I know not if its any different to normal paper. Can an armor blue print be printed on Pepakura from any old printer, or does it need to be specific brand of printer, or a printer with a certain spec?

Cheers.

I'm using an old HP printer with no problems. I think I've used about four different printers to print out on cardstock at different times, all with no problems. I think most cardstock is weighted to work with most printers (but don't quote me on that).

My little printer struggles with 250gsm paper. So I use 200gsm now. It makes funny noises when printing with the thicker paper and takes twice as long. But it works well. Tiny little hp5550

Pepakura question

Trying to get my first piece printed and started but i noticed a lot of my edge IDs are overlapping. I think i remember reading on a sticky how to fix that but i cant remember what one. Ive been scouring for an hour so i figured i would just ask to get pointed in the right direction. Thanks ahead of time.

@Fidgit: I think I know what the problem is. The only way I could see the edge ID's overlapping would be that the sides and/or flaps are overlapping as well. If this is the case, just open Pepakura Designer and the document you are working on, and right-click. Select "Join/Disjoin Face" and separate the area manually. This is a common practice that is usually required for dividing one small piece into smaller, more manageable pieces that can fit on one page.
