Here I sit, buried in the deep dark trenches of the forum. The Forum, a place where no0bs go to spread their n00bieness and the "old tymers" come to feel young again, if they can make it this far. So, here I sit. Communication device at my side not making a sound, looking around the darkness for any sign of life or light. Wait, what is that. Shhhhh, never mind, it was just another lurker passing by in the night. I ease back into the lush forest of 1's and 0's and disguise myself as a ASCII Character. Another noise - shhhhh, is this a lurker, a combative patrol or a friend?

This one seems to be a friend although his uniform is looking real worn and tattered. I grab my side arm blaster and step out behind the soldier. As he spins quickly I draw my blaster and yell SGT DeFoor reporting for duty now lower your weapon!

Okay - enough story telling. I am very much a noob to all of this 3D modeling / Foam building but I don't think I have been this stoked since I assembled my Robie 2XL 8 Track talking robot in the 70's. Oppps, now I will be disgraced because I am old!

All of this searching and reading was stemmed from a local ComicCon and KumoriCon. I saw these really kewl guys walking around in BobaFett, Iron Man, BatMan, and Halo guys in costume and they were awesome! Each said they made their own. OH MAN, if they can do it I can sure give it a try so, here I am. I know nothing except I have download the recommended 3D viewer, bought some foam from Lowes, a super sharp carpenter's knife, and a bunch of blades. I have a heat gun and dremell already so didn't buy them. Now to start off with some small things just to get the hang of this FOAM building.

So, I found the 405th which everything I have read online is the GO TO place for HALO Foam building.

I will continue through the noob section with the video's and recommended reading. But this was my first stop!

I am very new to the cosplay/costuming scene in general. I have not made any costumes or anything yet, but I would love to start. One goal is to build a full halo suit here. But given my money constraints as well as time, (mostly work, voice acting, and recording/editing for my gaming youtube channel here: www.youtube.com/user/WeAreTheGameMen)

All of this doesn't really give me too much time, plus the fact that I don't have a place of my own or even a decent workspace, it makes all of this very difficult. However, I am willing to try and do this. Any tips for a newbie?
