Mhmmmm

Well it was fairly straightforward besides the last piece, but over all probably 16-18 hours from printer to desk if I am honest

Right, so I removed my files the other day. I've gotten quite a few PMs about it, all appreciative of my work which makes me happy. I thought I'd write a few words about it because of this.

It has come to my knowledge that there is a great number of people that are roaming this site that believe that "Making game accurate props of any game of choice" is an article in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They believe that since they don't care enough to work up their skills to produce props by themselves, it is the duty and responsibility of hard working modellers to produce any and all pepakura files that they want, at the level of detail that they desire. For free. Fast.

However, there is no such article in the UN Declaration of Human Rights (seriously, I checked). It is NOT a human right to be able to make great props. Due to the demanding, ungrateful nature of the people believing so, I have decided not to share my work with just anyone. I have plowed countless hours into making the Jorge 052 files the best I can make them, and those hours will not benefit those that are unappreciative. I will share my work with those people that represent the great side of 405th, those that don't hesitate to help others when they can, those that do appreciate hard work. Those people that when a f-ed up piece of sh-- file is uploaded will pat the creator on the back and say "hey, thanks a lot for giving me a base to work of, this will be one hell of a prop!" while truly meaning what they say.

I will take this opportunity to revise all of my files as I am still not 100% happy about things. Some pieces will get major overhauls. Hopefully I can find a password protected hosting site (please notify me if you know of one that is free, or how to do it on 4shared.com, I couldn't find any way) where I will upload my files and only give out the passwords to those who deserve it. Even for them, I will be placing heavy restrictions on what files will be accessible and how they may be used, but I will post more on that once I have a place for my files and am ready to put them back up.

To all of those working hard to put files out there, any files from high definition to no definition: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You are truly generous people willing to share your work, sometimes without as much as a thank you. Please try to take heed of those that admire your work so that you don't end up a bitter old cynic like myself. You are too valuable for that.

I'm sorry to hear that. I really hope this whole thing passes over soon. I've noticed the trend of people expecting every file posted to meet or exceed their personal expectations, no offense to those who want more detail and go about it the polite way, but the ones who start bashing file creators and such. I just joined here recently, but I honestly hope the days when people can post their work to share with others freely and get nothing but thank-yous and compliments aren't so soon over. If anyone has a problem with a file, the only thing I can say is, before you go criticizing the creator of the file for not making it right, why don't you go make your own that will be 100% to your specs and you won't have to complain? I think the reason most of the people complain is they don't know just how much time and effort goes into making such a detailed file, or any level of detail for that matter. I've never in my life created a 3d file, or unfolded a file in pepakura for someone, or anything of that nature, but judging from the time it takes me to glue the pieces together, I can't imagine how long it would take to create the pieces and coax them all into coexisting on the model in peace... I personally downloaded the gun files, and have pulled them up in pep. If I had my armor done, the gun would already be started, but I only need one major project at a time. But when my suit is done, the gun will be my next main project.

So, Thank you, to you and any other modeler, unfolder, and all the people who make this site what it is. I know it may not seem like much now, but I am genuinely grateful for what you guys do, and hope that I can find a way to contribute to the forums some day. I hope you don't get too discouraged with your project, as Jorge was looking very promising. Even if you only finish it to build it for yourself, I'd still like to see it finished. Good luck to you.

wow. that is a bummer. but you gotta do what you gotta do, right man ? and its unfortunate that there are people out there who just don't appreciate all the work that goes into making these files. i was looking forward to being able to build the files you were putting out, but as i said before, you gotta do what you gotta do. i honestly hope that you will eventually be shown enough proof that people are no longer D-bags when it comes to this stuff. will you at least be posting progress pictures as a WIP ? because i would still love to see your progress as you take this costume from where it is now to completion.

hope everything works out for the best for you

O.T.

You could always password protect the pep files, and people would need to PM you for your password.

In Pep3, it's File-> Export-> Locked Format

wow! why do people have to bag out model makers for the files not being detailed?! its like they think they can do a better job at making more detailed models! im appreciative that people can MAKE models, even if they are low detailed! i cant make models for $#!T! it sucks that some people dont respect the time taken to create these masterpieces....

i agree with you 100% man. and i'm in the same boat: i couldn't make these models or pep files (or even the unfolds) to save my life. i'm just thankful that modelers and unfolders are taking the time it takes to make these files. detailed or not, a lot of us would be SOL without these guys !

Hey I understand how difficult this models deal is.... i was getting into game development and tried my hand at computer graphics/3d models and i sucked. i even tried a little of blender which is pretty user friendly. AceHigh sorry for the ungrateful forum members, (i personally am not building the jorge 052 armor but i greatly appreciate your awesome work! Keep it up)

Funny when the 3d modeler stop giving out there work every one gets mad because they cant have them

Great build most of the good 3d modelers have been there. Personally i dont think this generation knows what it means for hard work they want every thing now and "its all about me" part with out looking at what goes into it

I dont know how old you are but i am younger and recognize this with my own generation... it bugs the poop out of me. laziness is an epidemic unfortunately... thats why i hated high school, so much lack of effort. it is way more rewarding to take the time to do it yourself, a greater sense of accomplishment, which begs the question, "why dont they model themselves or learn so they can 'get it now'"

Laziness and wanting something fast is an oxymoron, Now i fall into this occasionally to and i apologize, but i have started to do my own armor piece from scratch and i can really appreciate the time these modelers take to make our live easier.

My only comment to those complaining (including myself at times) grow up, try it yourself, and think of someone other than yourself.

2 Corinthians 8:8 "I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others."

This can be done, yes, but the drawback here is that the file then can't be scaled. If one really wanted to, you could export locked formats of several different sizes, but I think part of the point of AceHigh choosing who has his files is that he would trust them not to redistribute.

Well I am behind acehigh's decision really. I get it alot. Even people getting mad for not doing commisions! Whe arn't robots guys if you cant stand that there is one detail not on it or if whe dont make something for you model it yourselves. There is big money earned with 3d modeling and you should have bin gratefull that some good modelers here just handed it out. But just some people cant seem to be happy with that.

How selfish is that? Real immature human behavior. One of the reasons i slack on modeling nowadays.

The sun doesnt always rise for free. Even people with promises here letting us do work and fail to forfill these promises after whe gave them files. Even well known members here on the forum.

Those people should be ashamed of themselves!

Whe give these files to help people further and not to be used. Be glad with what you get cous without guys like us there wouldnt be any pep files.

that said armor on! and stop exploiting the modelers!

i understand where you are coming from, but it hurts me to see everyone getting painted with such a broad brush. don't get me wrong, there are an alarmingly large number of individuals who just don't appreciate the hard work and time you modelers put into all these files. but there ARE a lot of us who would be nowhere without out guys, and we thank you and i know for a fact i would be the first person to give props where props are due. and i have read a lot of the comments sense acehigh decided to lock off his files, and they have been all supportive of his idea. is there really a need to keep ragging on everyone? yes we all know these people are out there, but negativity never helped anything.

long story short, lets keep it in a more positive line, and move on. personally, i am just hoping acehigh continues to at least show pictures of his progress, he has done such a good job on the files so far that it would be a shame to drop the WIP.

I am just honestly impressed. Wait that is not the word i'm looking for. And they don't have a word for what i see here in this forum. By far this is expert work at its best, especially since you have such a little resource guild to go through to make all of this...

wow icant believe things have gotten this bad on the site. I am not able to be on much really just long enuff to look around and not post anything. I have been watching this thread like a hawk because i think the work is great and im always wanting to see what is going on next. I am building the BFG and have to say its great i love the detaila nd the attention put into making it usable and costume friendly. i also built your jorge helmet which i sized alittle too big but am still going to wear proudly. i do know what you are talking about with modleing i am doing the clay thing now with my of the parts from reach and it seems like i dont have the right screan name or something. but anyway its sad to see things come to this. there are a few great modelers here and you, rundown and Agbates are a few of the best . so even if we cant use them keep up the great work. and atleast post a pic or two for us so we can cry alittle for not being able to use them
