So uh... is anyone else as anxious to see the finished, gold-plated visors?

You guys got us all to the vinegar strokes, then just left us hanging!!!

[...]and that it is necessary to run the rotocaster at a slower speed initially in the beginning. Why you ask? I have no idea....it comes out better.
oh,oh,oh, i know, i know! its cuz the resin has a tendency to catch bubbles if its rolled over itself too quickly while its still very liquidy, but then when it gets gooiey, ramp up the speed n itll even out the coating. (sorry, ive been reading up on it for a project im planning XD)

wheres these fine visors anyway? your not trying to give us heart attacks by putting them into a helmet before showing us are you?

I would love to do a nice upholstery job on the inside of one of those helmets..
If I had one, I'd put in some spiffy padding, maybe a built in wireless live headset, and a lit HUD inside.

Ahhh. This is a nice thread.....everyone is so nice here.....

I just need some bandaids and some hot cocoa now.....

Just an UPDATE on the visor test. We send some acrylic hemispheres out for test coatings. We will have them back on Monday now. I know...I know.... They are lagging. I can't do anything about it.

Patience is a Virtue............But I can't wait too see those visors!!!! I'm excited!!!!!

I'd be very interested to know how they turn out. Do you know what the method of coating they are using is? Flow coating perhaps?

That is the new buck. You're very close though on your assumption of what they gave me as a sample.

Although they look nice, there's four things wrong with my sample parts.....

1. They are not gold reflective
2. They are not transparent one-way
3. They are not coated on the inside
4. They are not even remotely what I asked for for $450.

thats odd. how did they manage to bollocks it up? They look more like they've been plated than coated to me.
