Master Chief Halo 4 - Complete

That looks like a pain in the buttocks to pep. Reminds me of the War Machine pep I did a while ago. You did a great job man. I look forward to seeing it progress!:)

I haven't done much the last couple months. My job has been crazy and unexpected to say the least. Because of this I have started my job search in looking for greener pasture.

Anyway, the weather in the Northeast has been a lot warmer than usual. I was able to do some painting on my kid's updated Master Chief. In the meantime, I applied a coat of resin the MC4 helmet. Hopefully I can work on this helmet more in the next several weeks.

I have been working on the helmet for quite a while now and I'm still not done. Every time I thought I'm done there is always more holes to patch.

While finishing up the front I noticed that the left and right are not symmetrical. So I have to do some grafting.

During resin stage, I did not notice that the bottom was warped which making it too narrow for the head to go through. So I had to trim off the edge.

Looks great. You've put allot of work into this and it shows.

Really great job CoolC. Definitely turning out well! Keep up the good work!

Tony

Thanks both. In my previous work, I try to rush things a bit since the armors (Master Cheifs and ODSTs) were for my kids.

I tried to get this helmet done at best I can, but now that the Microsoft released the final rendering Master Chief Halo 4, I felt compelled to be game accurate. Let just say I have a long way to go...

I cannot believe how much time I spent on this helmet. With work and family, finding 2 hours in a day to work on this helmet is really difficult. I also lost count how many times I apply bondo. I present to you 90% complete Halo 4 Master Chief.

While you cannot tell from this photo, the left side is not equal to the right side. You would think that after working on costumes for 2 years that I will learn my lesson. The right side of the helmet sagged when I applied resin. Now I spent a lot of hours trying to correct this error.

Here is the left side of the helmet. Still need a few touch-ups.

And the right side is the same. Not sure if you can tell that they are not symmetrical.

And here is the back of the helmet.

Finally, I need to figure out how to add the details on the chin/mouth piece. The pep file that I used did not have this detail.

Once all is done, I need to use a dremel tool to drill out the holes.

Okay, first this a very difficult pep. With that said, it looks great. But, it is warped on the right side. However, I've had this problem as well. Have you tried re-heating the resin and pulling the rights side into shape. If you used polyester resin, you can heat it up again and move it. Well, either way I wish you luck my friend and hope you can get that little issue resolved. I commend you though on banging out a very difficult model. Goood luck!

You could probably use craft foam to make these details.

Thanks Tony. That means a lot. By the time I realized the right side was warped I was already halfway done with the bondo. So I had no choice but to put more bondo and reshape the right side.

You could probably use craft foam to make these details.

I was thinking that too. Unfortunately, I plan to mold and cast the helmet if all goes well. So foam is not an ideal option.

I finally finished with the bondo of the helmet. I ended up fixing more warps and I'm happy with the results. The next step is to use a dremel and drill some holes.

I cured a piece of bondo and I will see if I can make the detail that goes in the mouth piece.

Looks great so far, Im suprised that you haven't gone insane from all the crazy bondo work LoL, I know I was about to by the time I was at this point in my build, anyways it really starting to take shape, looks like it will be finished soon hope to see more soon

Trust me I was on the edge. If you look closely there are some parts still not perfect. Since they are too small or barely visible, I just say to hell with it. If I continue to work on this any further I'll jump out my office building. :D

Looking nice CoolC, I've made it too but I made it too big for my head! Having a crack at another unfold this time, might save some time :) Keep going Sir, look forward to seeing it.

CoolC, I had a very similar problem with my recon helmet. I put some foil down then used super-sculpy to design the missing piece. I pulled the foil off with the sculpted piece, baked it, put it back and was done. Predrying bondo and going at it...I would not have thought of that. Either way very nice job!!!

Well, this is not the Master Chief helmet, but it is Halo 4 related.

I used Satchmo helmet and unfolded by TJX62. And here is the Locust helmet that took me more than 10 hours to complete. The most difficult part is the mouth piece. It is a little crooked and it will take some effort to correct it.

I don't think I will finish it because the helmet is not practical to wear. It is very narrow on the bottom and there is no where to cut it any further to enlarge it. The only option is to cut the back like Iron Man and then reattach it using magnet.

Second, the helmet is front heavy. After finishing it up, it will be very difficult to keep it stable without tipping over.

Finally, there are no visors. There are a few options that I thought of.

The helmet is quite large and as you can see it is very front heavy.

The back of the helmet fits the head really well.

Just a quick video of both helmets. I may actually finish the Locust helmet just because it is cool. ;)

I decided to finish up the Locust helmet. May not be able to make it wearable because couldn't figure out the visor without destroying the face mask.

After 6 hours of bondo, this is what I have. Still need to work on the mouth piece and the jaw.

The roundel is a little warped. Still need to fix it.

Hope you like it.
