What do you guys think?

BTW- 2 questions if I may:

1. On the right side of the AR (and only on the right side), there's some sort of silver rectangular thingie located near the top of the AR - a few inches above the hand hole (apologies for the lack of gun terms :p )
Does anyone have a clear pic of it? I cant seem to find it on the reference pics I got from the gallery.

2. I know I'm getting ahead of myself here - but any recommendations for shoes? Would the absense of shoe laces be prefered perhaps?
I'm probably looking at Robogenisis' 3 part shoe armor wherein we could probably adhere the rear & front part to the shoe
and just velcro the plate with the holes on top.

I think that's the coolest pep AR I've ever seen. Very nice job, looks great.
And the torso is amazing.

1: Not sure exactly which part you're talking about, but do these help (down below)? They are about the clearest pics of that side of the AR I've seen. I'll be adding them to the gallery, too.

2: I don't think laces will matter, the pep pieces should completely cover the shoe, along with the soft piece that will have to be made between the toe and heel parts of the shoe.

There's also this picture, not sure if this shows what you're looking for: LINK

Thanks Ruze! :D

Yeah- those pics will help, thanks a bunch!
Its that long silvery colored rectangle right above MC's handplate - when he's aiming his AR. About 2" above the hand hole. I guess I just have to "guestimate" that part for replication.

I just thought having lace-less shoes will be much easier to get in/out......perfect for lazy guys like me!

I believe that may be the bullet casing ejection port. It's inline with the AR clip, so I imagine that's what it is as it looks recessed into the gun, but the darker material around the silver part doesn't look attached to it. That's my best guess.

That's what I was thinking, too, but I have this picture that shows it firing and it doesn't look like it moved... and the casing is in a terrible spot to guess where it came from... maybe the model isn't quite that intricate. Also, most pics I have it looks like it sits flush on the gun, slightly raised, but a couple others it looks like it could be slightly recessed.

I'm pretty sure that's what it is now. I just checked the model and it has a mesh face hovering slightly off the body of the riffle, and there is some sort of object over it that would be used as an action spot or something(not fluent in 3D modeler terms). It was an older model, but I doubt they changed it for Halo 3. I'll take a closer look when I get home tonight, but I'm 99.99% positive that spot is where the casings are ejected.

Edit - Looked at myself firing the AR in the Theater and it's definitely the casing eject port. There's no animation other than a bullet casing appearing out of thin air flying out of the gun at that point.

What did you use to mold it? If its fiberglass, how do you get the little indents in the helmet, and whats the mold release?

Mardon has answered every one of these questions and then some in this thread... If you want to learn a whole lot about his process, read through this whole thing. It's incredibly informative.

Thanks again guys! ;)

BTW- in regards to the shoe/boot armor - do you make your pep as big as your shoe size? I'm a size 10, but prefer buying size 11 shoes for wearing socks, walking, etc. Do we scale the Pep armor as long as our shoe or maybe a bit bigger?

please read the thread, he explains several times that he uses illustration board (or cardboard) and bondo, the AR doesnt have any bondo currently, its just different types of cardboard.
