You just get your clay out (normally water based clay) and just give it a good couple of whacks with a rolling pin. Then you roll out the clay till you satisfied with the height. Then cut it into pieces, and embed you object into it. To complete it just rub it with water and smear out the lines of the pieces of clay.

It's oil based clay. It's smoothed and snuggled up to the pattern with a brush and alcohol as a solvent.

Phew! It's done. Almost. Had a little scare when the edges of the two rubber halves wanted to stick together.

you are a master Rube. i hope that one day i will be lucky enough to get one of your castings. (im trying to use some of your vacuum molding techniques to make my ODST visor)

Rube. Just wondering. How exactly do you make those molds? can you PM me and maybe we could talk about it in some detail?

...moley... (y)

That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I'm gonna go cry in the corner for a while now.

bloody brilliant.

it looks quite amazing yum. I never realize how much the handle and scope added to the BR, it looks so naked without it lol. There are only 3 things I like naked. Women, some foods, and men...ok wait scratch that make that 2 things...just women and some foods lol

sweet looking. Solid plastic?

That is the master in the mold but the castings will be hollow just like the one from the earlier crappy mold.
