So about that problem with the shoulder straps falling off... I thought up this nifty little getup:

I sewed these strips on to the underside of the shoulder straps with hook-&-loop on top and bottom, then hook them between the two halves of the collar where there's already some to hook on to. Easy fix for the problem, and no added holes or rivets.

Looking amazing bro!
Loving the detail you have been putting into the posts you add on facebook!
Just found your thread finally!

Last week while test fitting all the torso parts, I couldn't bend my elbows enough to put on my own helmet. Gauntlets are already rivetted together so trimming them per the instructions is out. So ai trimmed them near the inner elbow inside the feature that was already there.

Tomorrow: pants shopping!

Pants shopping was a success. Went to our favorite military surplus store, and the first pair I picked out and tried on were perfect. So this morning I woke up bright and early to assemble the leg armor.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1436753303.331787.jpg
After taking this photo, I swapped the thigh plates and hip plates on the belt so the thigh plates sit closer to the front. This looks better, cuts into me less, and keeps the parachute buckles from hitting each other as I walk.

For those curious about the larger leather pouch, that's something I picked up at the AZ Renaissance Fair from an artist named Leather Mystics.

Spent most of my weekday evenings this week painting details (belt buckle, thigh buckles, equipment plate) and painting the rucksack parts.

Today, on the other hand, was all assembly. Spent the afternoon putting the rucksack together (almost done) and creating the shoulder pads for the shoulder armor.

Now that those are done, every piece of the body armor is built and ready to wear! Tomorrow, I don the entire suit for the first time- so hyped!

Sean Bradley (Sean Bradley Studio on Facebook). Very helpful with the process and commissioned to do the helmet and chest-plate art too.

I guess it's about time to reveal this (my Facebook friends already know): the suit is finished! Of course I'll be tightening some straps and adding additional fixtures throughout this week before boxing it up, but the assembly and painting are all done. This thing is con-ready.

I'll be uploading an album later from my home computer; for now, here are a few photos to wet your appetite.

Had a ton of fun at RTX! Got to debut the armor on Saturday. Lots of compliements and picture requests, plus got to hang out with you guys and get my picture taken by Adam. Overall, I have to say the costume held together pretty well and was comfortable to wear for 5 hours (built up a good layer of sweat inside the suit though). I'm really glad I managed to finish the detail paint, sewing, and compelted rucksack in time; they really put it over the top. I'll add an album here soon; our group photographer just recently finished uploading her camera roll.

So what's next? I plan to wear it again for Haloween, Extra Life, and maybe Tucson Comic Con if I'm not too tired after Extra Life. Before then, I plan to make a few minor improvements, like the camo paint job on the gauntlets and thigh plates, as well as adding a regiment emblem. But I would like to make a few more, bigger improvements before next summer for Phoenix Comic Con and RTX 2016. The list includes:

- Re-do shoulder bell attachment (change from canvas to pleather).
- Re-do shoulder straps (after shortening and then lengthening, the buckles don't line up with the chest plate).
- Secure all torso parts to a tactical vest (prevent sliding due to rucksack weight).
- Combat knife.
- TACPAD (mounted smartphone in gauntlet).
- Biofoam canister.
- Magnetic weapon mounts in hip/thigh plates or rucksack.
- Radio voice (talk into a mic and have the voice come out through a speaker).
- Visor (chromed purple is too dark to see through; thinking maybe silver or ice blue instead).

Some of these improvements will just be posted here as I finish them, but the bigger ones will get their own threads. I'll be sure to post links here. Thanks to everyone who complimented and made suggestions along the way; you kept me going and made this wonderful project come to life. Can't wait to meet more of you at future events and show you what else I can do!

Recent Appearances:
I found a troop of local cosplayers and was invited to a film shoot. Got to wear my armor along side other genre cosplayers battling it out at a fictional cosplay contest.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452456731.277566.jpg

I attended our local Halo 5 release in armor. All the other Halo costumers in Tucson went up to Phoenix for the Microsoft Store events, so I was the lone trooper in town.

I also dressed up to volunteer at my friend's son's school Halloween festival (no pictures sadly). Unfortunately, there was too much up and down, and I broke my armor in several places. Going to fix it one of these days.

Bought a mannequin with my birthday money. Now my ODST stands guard over our game room.

Back to the workshop (aka the garage) to fix a few things that broke on my Halloween outing. May have taken 4 months to get around to it, but with Con Nichiwa just around the corner, time to fix that armor.
Lesson learned: I cannot be bending over repeatedly to help elementary school kids play carnival games. Ended up cracking the stomach plate / cheat plate connection. The front collar also lost its Velcro, and the faux latch came off the rucksack lid, but those were from multiple wearings.
Now all those problems are fixed- actually went much faster than expected- so I can go to Con Nichiwa next weekend!

Hey Myr, I'm an AZ (Phoenix) ODST too! If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I'm looking at the Sean Bradley kit, but I'm afraid I'm too tall and it won't look very good. Insane kit though brother, very very impressed!

Hey Max. I'm 5'9" and the suit fits like a glove. My mannequin is 6' and the suit looks a bit out of place, but you could work with the strapping to improve that. See pictures a couple posts back.

Sounds good! I'm 6' 1" so I'm still considering. Not sure I have the patience to pep EVERY armor piece to it, but I'd be willing to if it will fit right. Not sure yet, still in communication with Sean. Thanks for the info though

Con Nichiwa was a success. It was a very small con, with a much younger demographic than i expected, but plenty of people enjoyed my armor and asked for pictures. And also there were plenty of other cosplayers, mostly anime. It was no PAX or RTX, but it felt good to finally attend a con in my own town.
