Myr's ODST Build

I've had a problem with this costume since i finished it- the chest plate always rides up into my chin. I keep tugging it down, which leads to several times breaking the connections between the stomach plates. I just chalked it up to the back pack being too heavy. But comparing these Con Nichiwa pics to some source material and other ODST cosplayers, I realized the shoulder bells are way too high on my arms, pushing them under the shoulder straps and lifting the whole chest/back assembly up. I've been meaning to replace the grey fabric patches with leather, so when I do I need to place them lower. We'll see how much that helps!

Thanks! I strive for accuracy, hence the two year build. I like your bdu build - that's an interesting twist.

Fantastic!!!! Great build man.......I just started on my own ODST build......definitely going to be picking your brain in the near future.....

Any time. The key word is patience. I didn't rush a single piece of this build. I even missed taking it to RTX 2 years ago as i originally planned to debut it then, but i wasn't going to rush it.

Another Grifcon- I mean, another RTX in the books! As much fun as ever. Got to hang out with GrifballHub and the 405th, my best online friends. I even got to pose with fans at the 343i panel and compete in a cosplay contest with Impact Props! This is the cosplay event I have been working 2 years to participate in. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.

Damage report:
1. Straps under shoulder bell detached. Plan to replace grey fabric with leather before reattaching straps.
2. Velcro inside gauntlet detached. Plan to reattach with same A-B adhesive used on calves.
3. Crack in knee cap from kneeling for photo. Plan to patch and glue from back side, see how it looks; should work, as crack is on a designed edge.
4. Sidearm shattered from falling off belt. Plan to glue broken pieces back together and attempted reassembling the rest of the parts.
5. Muzzle of SMG came loose from weight of silencer. Plan to reattach with A-B adhesive.

Overall, not too bad. I've had worse events.

FANTASTIC!!!!!! you look great....all of you look great!!!! Glad to hear that your suit didn't take more damage. It sounds like you have a few hours in the shop already scheduled. Good luck. Great job!!!!

Dude, by far one of the best ODST built!
I shall strive to do near this good in my future ODST build.
Come to think of it, I probably should have made an ODST trooper vs the Reach Spartan I am doing now; looks much simpler/less parts :p

Enjoy the rest of your future cons! I shall be watching.

Simpler in some ways. I didn't have to build foam or paper parts. But harder to work with. Needed tools like xacto knife, dremel, and heat gun. I spent over a year of evenings and weekends to get the finish and fit just right.

In preparation for Tucson Comic Con this weekend and Extra Life next weekend, I'm doing a much needed fix to my undersuit. In an effort to save time and money, I used the heavy fabric from my shoulder straps to make the shoulder bell pads. Unfortunately, the edges fray super easy, leading to ugly appearance and the bells constantly coming out of the holes. Plus one of the Velcro straps ripped loose last time i wore it. Time to replace the pads with faux leather like they should have been.

Had a good time at Tucson Comic Con. Spent half the time with my spotter/fiance and a couple friends new to the con scene. Spent the other half in line at pre-judging or waiting to go on stage with Dylan, the other Tucson ODST.

Here are some pics.

No. Bullets are no match to shields and disintegration rays.

Or use a Paintball gun! Like Wilfred :D

Myr, how easy is it to move in yours? I saw a fanfilm the other day, and when they're moving in their kit it seems very RoboCop.. Do you have the same problem?
