Are you telling me you still haven't received a visor? Sheesh, I hate USPO. If you don't see it by Saturday I'll UPS it. The visor should fit with a little tinkering, it's flexible.

Finally...

A couple of coats of rebound 25.

Ta Da!

I've got some Smoothcast 300 on the way but I just couldn't wait. I made a cast with
some Alumilite I had around.

I absolutly want that helmet (y)!!!!

It looks like you got mad at the helmet and threw an entire bucket-o' yogurt.

How much will you be selling one of those beauties for.

Wow that is a great helmet. I've been following this for a while and to see it finally molded is amazing.

Laaaaaaaa!
gorgeous. we'll have to nickname you Midas

hey was there a picture of the blue-tinted visor? i'm interested to see how well those turned out.
and just to clarify (the posts confused me) the blue tinted ones were made of PETG and soaked in dark blue rit dye, correct?

Absolutely breathtaking work rube!! Can't wait to see a group of those bad boys sitting together.

WOW How did I miss this event of silicone and casting!?! Love it! I would love to be able to make a visit to Indy from Purdue to just see it! (maybe get some tips and watch you cast it as well!)
Awesome Work!!

Skyman:
No visors yet. I just received my shipment of .080 PETG. I did use Rit dye on the earlier visors I made but I have no photos.

JediStumpy:
You're welcome to visit but I'll need two weeks notice to clean up! Watching me make a cast is kind of boring though. I used SmoothCast 300 and probably should have used Roto. Slush casting with it takes quite a few coats since it is so thin.

Worked a bit on the chest. I used ink jet decal paper for the UNSC logo.

I sprayed the piece silver and daubed on latex mold rubber in spots before painting it black to get the chipped paint. The black reacted badly to the silver I used and crazed. Happy accident! It gives a nice texture so I'm leaving it. It will need more weathering but I'll wait till everything is finished. Makes it easier to get a consistent look if you do everything at once.

The black/silver paint did turn out great! The texture is really neat. Also the logo looks like it blends in really nice into the piece.
I'm going to be busy the next two weekends anyways, so I'll let you know when a good weekend for me would be and see if it is ok for you. Maybe the 1st or 2nd weekend in March. I might want to take one off your hands after seeing it!
Just let me know.
Keep up the good work!

You, sir, are full of win. Congratulations, looks like even fate wants you to do well. This'll look awesome
