Right yeah I was thinking maybe paint or plastidip? have you ever seen or heard of papermache being used as a sub for fiberglass?

Thanks man I actually was able to find a thread about using papermache as a hardener but no pic on it so I am still really doubtful about it I would hate to hurt my work so far.????? Idk I will probably use resin and wash it and trying sealing it with some thing less fumey

If you're looking for a substitute to fiberglass resin, some people prefer a product called AquaResin. It's non-toxic, so it doesn't create harmful fumes, but it is a bit more expensive. I wouldn't try paper mache for a number of reasons, though. It's soppy and will likely warp your pep, firstly. Secondly, it's not very durable. If you want an alternative to using a resin, I would try using either liquid plaster in a similar fashion to the way most people use rondo, or plaster sheets, which are applied in much the same fashion as fiberglass sheets, except that you wet them with water instead of polyester resin.

Sorry for no pics to night but UPDATE: the back of the torso is nearing completion. I'll be posting pics in the morning of todays work, and crossfingers the whole torso complete tomarrow night.

Update for end of today underestimated how much was left on the back side of torso. So that is what I finished today and starting the front tomorrow. Hope to get torso done tomorrow.

So true I have test fits as parts start to take shape lookin like I may get 2 years out of suit everything is fitting with I little room to spare. This is my second torso I have made first one got scrapped was way to small. It was more action figure size.;D thanks for the support man.

I will have new pics up tomarrow I have the chest completed back and front are now one. The legs and sholders will be done in 2 days then time to fiberglass it all. My goal is to fiberglass everything by this weekend and start bondo and shaping.

Ok guys so here is the deal I just statred a new job. So now I am more busy then ever. But none the less I am make progress and as long as weather permits it I will hope to fiberglass all of my son costume parts, I have decided that I am to go with shin gaurd style ounting for the shin and forearms, without the backings just do to he is under a year old and want it to be a comfortable as possible for him. And easy for him to walk in.

I would strongly recommend that you add a surface curing agent to the final resin layer inside your child's helmet.

Even if some resins are dry to the touch, they may not be fully cured and may still be toxic.

Yewh its going to have a foam padded interior and I am experimenting with idea to reduce the resins hazardous fumes.

here are the shins for my sons suite they are about 7" tall a little long for him but should work as everything is a little big to get hopefully two year of use out of the suit.
