LOL!!!! I've still had to cut a few things out by hand on this. Reason why is I didn't want one of the holes on the top of the chest plate on the right side and since the machine can't be programmed to not cut it, it was easier to do it that way. And since I can't figure out the scoring issue with the machine, I had to score all of it. It took me about 45 minutes to score everything that I've put together so far on the chest plate. I'll take it though, because scoring isn't as hard on my hands.

ANYWAY. . . put the machine on your Christmas list. :cool Unless you have about $280 to burn on it, you might be able to sucker your mom into going in on it with you if she likes scrapbooking. LOL! The only reason I bought it is because I know that my wife would like using it for scrapbooking and I will most likely continue to make a lot of costumes like this in the future for my son and me for different things. I like what you've got done on your projects so far. Hope to see more.

I have the detail work done on the center part of the chest plate. It was a booger, because the thing is really detailed and I haven't even got to the worst parts yet. I'm away from the house right now so I'll get some pics up of what I have in the morning when I get home. It's not much, but enough to show a WIP!!! LOL!! I think I forgot how time consuming it was to put all of the stuff together. . . . . Thanks to everyone checking in. It's appreciated.

It really is easier. . . Airbrush.com (now BearAir I think) usually has some good deals and I've never had an issue with anything that I have bought from them. Not even the cheapos that I thought wouldn't last. They have multiple brands and types. I'm partial to the two stage trigger and gravity fed built in cups. They do really fine lines at low pressure. They also stock a large amount of parts like needles, valves and other things. The last air brush pump I got was purchased from harbor freight for about $55 that has a pressure regulator and air scrubber /moisture trap on it and it works great so far.

I know it's not much, but it's a start. I'm just taking my time, because I know I have plenty of it right now. Well guys. . . I don't know how I managed this, but I'll be off until next Thursday (Nov 29th). Besides the stuff with Thanksgiving coming up, I'm going to be pepping as much as I can, because I have the spandex suit and latex in the house now to start the under suit. I had to work last night though, so I don't know how productive I can be today. I'm going to put that little cameo machine through its paces today cutting stuff out that I need. I absolutely have to get the torso and cod done before I can start on that under suit though so I can make sure the details will be in the right places. I just hope that I give enough space for the under suit. . . . LOL!!!! Wish me luck.

In the meantime. . . . I've made a quick video to kind of demo the machine cutting. I got a couple PMs about it and thought I'd try to do something to show it cutting pepakura since I really couldn't find much when I was searching for it. I apologize for anything being out of focus or just being a crappy video. . . . I've never made one before. . . LOL!!!!!! Not to mention since I've been up for about 20 hours now, I doubt it makes sense. I'm waiting for it to upload to youtube, but it is showing that is going to take FOREVER!!!!!!! to do it. So, I'll edit this again later to put in a link or however that will work.

How time consuming is it loading the registration files into the 3rd party program and making sure it's all aligned properly? Do the files need to be a particular format or any additional editting involved?

It'a strange that it won't score the fold lines. I got an older model Craft Robo and set it up using the instructions in this thread Complete Pepakura Viewer for CraftROBO Guide/FAQ When you go to cut and the choose page screen pops up, double check the "Detail" settings. All three items in the top section should be checked. Mine worked great the first try. Maybe its a new model issue.

The whole registration mark thing is already in the pepakura viewer for silhouette cameo. You just have to make sure the measurements that are in that program for the registration marks are correct. If you use the machine I have with the tamasoft software for it, it can stay in the regular pepakura format. You just have to have the pepakura designer (not viewer) so you can save your work. No real editing involved either. You may have to move some parts around here and there to make sure that they are within the registration marks so they will be cut, but nothing really major that I saw was an issue. If you have the machine like Angry Tr00per below is talking about, then you have to rick the machine to think it's cutting A4 paper. On the RPF I found some stuff about how to convert things to a different file format and import it to the actual silhouette software, but there have been a lot of reported alignment issues and other things that have come up with it.

I'm trying to come up with another video to show the entire process for where to get the software and how to set it all up to show what it takes to actually get the registration marks read and everything. It took me a couple tries to get it right, but since, I've been spot on with it and haven't had any other problems. I'm just that not that inclined on movie maker, because I've never used it. So I've been doing a lot of research on that today trying to come up with something. Got so involved in it that i haven't got around to doing any pep work. I still don't know how I'll be able to show the PC screen and the cameo thing in the same video. LOL!!!

Thanks for the info. I checked that after you told me and all three of them are checked. I've even tried changing the color of the mountain and valley fold lines thinking maybe it had to read color, but that didn't work either. The Silhouette Cameo is a little different on the set up from the SD you have from what I've read. I know that on your version you have to trick the thing into thinking it's A4 paper. On the Cameo version, it can be left letter. I read over a lot of stuff that reported scoring issues, like tearing the paper or ripping off the tabs you need to glue down, so I don't really mind scoring it. It gives me something to do by hand. I really do appreciate the info though. I didn't know about that details tab before you said something.

This whole Silhouette Cameo thing has some people asking some questions. I put off pepping anything today to try and figure out how to do a video tutorial. It'll be my first. . . So be kind. I shot some video and put everything together. It took a while, but I think I have the basic stuff figured out for now. I've got the video tutorial put together now and it's uploading to YouTube. It's going to take about an hour and a half (I've got wireless only, because there are no broadband companies available where I live) and when it's up and going, I'll post it in here. Hopefully I will be able to get it up by the end of the night so tomorrow I can get back to work on the torso. I've got a lot of stuff cut out and haven't been able to get to it. LOL!!! Stay tuned I guess.

Well since I never upload videos. . . My tut was rejected by YouTube because it was too long. I think I've got that fixed, but I have to go through the whole upload process again. AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I'll get it up some time later today. Sorry about that.

Update

Got a little pep work done today. Most of the torso's front is now done and I've got some of the stuff for the back printed so I can start it. I don't think that I am going to pep in the details for the piece in the center of the collar, and I am not pepping out the collar. I'd just have to cut it off anyway with the way I have it scaled. I will try to use foam if my idea with the latex doesn't work for those areas.

The rest of my build at this point on the torso will be without a lot of numbers matching up. I didn't realize before I started building all this that one of the pieces had a slit where it didn't need one and if it had been cut there was no tab to glue it back together. I changed it and it threw the entire number system off I think. LOL!!!! See still learning. Oh well. Just another challenge I guess.

Gotta love progress!

Great job still - it's probably beneficial to have a dummy to fit stuff to that's your likeness, especially for the hard to reach places like the back, looking at pieces lining up, etc. How did you make yours? Chicken wire with plastic bags?

Thanks, Morphine. I've got most of the back ready to be put together. Just need the time.

About the dummy. There's no wire or anything. Just your standard duct tape dummy. I wore some old clothes and I had my son and wife tape me up with duct tape, then I cut it off (clothes and all). After that, I put in a PVC pipe skeleton using 1" PVC pipe, making sure the shoulder and hip measurements were the same as me, and stuffed it with whatever I could find. I used all the plastic bags we had on my son's duct tape dummy. So, I had to settle for using old clothes, magazines, newspapers. . . just whatever. Then, I used some cardboard to make the neck and when I made it, I made sure that the neck included my head height so I'd be able to put the helmet on it once it's built.

Having one definitely helped me out a lot when I was building my son's armor, so I figured I'd make one for me. Plus, I need one for the under suit process with the latex so it doesn't shrink up too much when it dries. It will give it something to shrink to. Hope this helps.

No real update on progress. I do have most, if not all the pieces for the back of the torso ready to be put together. With Thanksgiving and all, haven't had the time to do so.

I have made a change in a file that I am going to use though. I've decided against using the Dawn Under Heaven Cod and am going to use the Reach Belt /Cod by RoadWarrior instead. In looking at them in comparison, the RoadWarrior cod looks more like the screen shots I was able to get from my friend. Since I'm going for more accuracy than anything, I'll be switching to that one. I've updated the link and pics for the file that I'll be using on the first page. The RoadWarrior Cod is absent a couple of details, but I think I'll be able to add them when it comes to it. Hopefully by Monday I'll be done with the Torso and ready to move to the Cod so I can get started on the under suit. Until next time. . . Keep Building and Make It Fun
