Righteous pumps ya got there roxy, looks like they will be good enough to kick some covenant butt! :)

CAREFUL! Don't sell those at Footlocker. There might be another riot of people trying to get a pair of those.

HA. I doubt there are any men with my size feet. XD

Where the sole of the boot is adhered to the front of the boot. At the end of your stride when walking, the heel naturally comes off the ground and pressure is focused on the ball of your foot, placing stress on the seam where the two pieces come together. What concerns me is that the pressure will want to tear the two pieces apart.

Not to worry. I thought of that. I tested out the shoes and they actually don't bend much. Any pressure is mostly alleviated by my shoes that I wear inside the boots. However, I decided to go farther with these by adding detail on the sole. Whenever I get to that, I'll show you what I mean.

Your boots are looking super cool. That toe seam is craaaazy! It makes my brain hurt just looking at it :p. Are your sneakers now permanently fixed in the boots? If they're permanent, is it tricky to tie them at all?

Can't wait to see how those look with the shins!

No. My sneaker can slip in and out of them just fine. ^_^ And I can't wait to make my shins either! I'm almost done with this costume!!!!

Also curious bout the craft foam, I have never seen it in a roll, may i inquire as to where you got it?

You can find large rolls of craft foam at Joanns' Fabrics store. That's where I got mine. If they don't have it in stock, I'm sure you can order it. It costs about $8.

@ Scar, Toja, Annanymous, Mstruvmgc & thorn696:
Thanks guys. ^_^

@drack:
Weapon? ... I'm not thinking that far ahead. I know what ones I want, but I want my armor done first.

UPDATE.

Boots are practically done. I need to test them, walking around and such to make any adjustments. The strapping probably isn't strong enough, but who knows. I did this over 3 days of work, I think. Again.. no patterns, but this was an easier build than I had previously thought. I looked at tons of references, including HaloGoddess' progress shots of her own boots.

I went from the ground up. I did 3 layers of foam on the heel, sandwiching. The toe only has two layers. This gives me, with the sneakers on, about 3 inches added to my height! I go from 5'5'' to 5'8''!!!! 8DD Sneaky, huh? =D

Getting the curve on the toe was the trickiest part. Using some smart beveling and heat forming takes patience, lemme tell you! I was lucky to get it right on the first try.

The trapezoid extension pieces were also tricky. It took a while to figure out the angles. If you look at it, the foam is thinner than regular EVA. I actutally cut the foam in half here. >.>

I may add one or two details later, but for now, I'm happy with it.

Next comes the shins. I may need to wait for my friends to print out a pep file for me. >.> If they don't come for a while, I'll just do the knees.

I may have to steal your idea with the shoes. But I doubt I could make them look as good

Awesome work as usual my sweet. Seeing how you did them reminded me of how I made my ironman shoes, never posted pics on the thread due to the fact I haven't glued the bits together. I blame Masterchief :p Looking forward to your next update.

@Drack: I'm still waiting for your tutorial. XD I'd love to see how you work with that bathroom acrylic stuff.

Since some people were curious.. here's some more pictures of the boot and how my shoe fits into it. It can slide out and be put back in. Once in, it doesn't jostle around, it stays put. I put velcro on the inside of the strap, but after testing it out, I found it doesn't hold. I'm going to replace it with spandex or something.

On the first post I'll be listing my progress as well as putting my progress image up there too. Although, I think you all know already that I'm nearly done with this costume. I'm so excited!

Also, I kept my patterns this time around for the foam boot. Here's what they look like, but for the full images, please go to my photobucket, here: http://s722.photobucket.com/albums/...Team/?action=view&current=BootPatterns2-1.jpg The two large pieces on the left side is one and the same. I had to scan it twice to get the whole piece. You'll have to put it together with tape or something. Also, the Arrows on each piece represent which side faces up, away from the ground. These are all the pieces for the Right boot. Just flip them over to make your left boot. Make sure that the sole is about 1 cm wider than the circumference of your own shoe. I have small feet...

Camera should be fixed in 7-10 days, fingers crossed, I got a wedding shoot so need my back up camera ready for it. It's the one with the HD video on it I will be using for the tutorial. I need to get my suit completely finished so I can do proper photos of it. Promissed myself I wouldn't do any with my real cameras till then. Oh also not going to cover the bathroom acrylic part in the tutorial as I only used it once for one very small seam. I only mentioned it for those who already have gaps that need fixing. I will how ever be showing how I do my seams so you should never need it.

Undersuit Shorts done! Again, live action version. The front has the same ribbing as the torso, shoulders and neck. The "butt" simply has some sandwiched cushy fabric in between two layers of black spandex, which I sewed over making the tire track pattern. I'm thinking I'll need to extend it into the knee part, and put buttons on the top to attach to the corset part of the under suit so it will stay up. I also made strapping for the thighs, connecting them to the "belly/hip" plate with clips. They keep my thighs up nicely, and the weight of the thighs keep my belly plate from riding up my hips. haha.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I had to increase the contrast so you could see the detail in the under suit.

Was excited that an update was here but little I'd I realise it would be this good. I had a sneaky suspicion you were making some under suit from the delay. Outstanding work as always Roxy!! :)

Roxy, truely superb. I love it! YOU GO GIRL!! lol The undersuit and suit look amazing, cant wait to see more!

This is insane!!! You and LilTyrant are setting the bar for under suits. I love it!!!

The shorts look great! Nice job.
It's nice to see all the parts come together, gives a great sense of how its going to look in the end.
The proportions are perfect!

Cereal.

You really have to build a foam helmet now, so that we can all declare yours to be the best all foam build instead of Drack's ;)

Seriously, this is amazing and very inspiring, giving a lot of us both motivation and confidence to work on our own armor.
If there's anything I'd comment on, it's the size of the forearm and upper arm pieces - they could be about 10-20% bigger to bulk your arms up a little and balance out the mass of the thigh and chest armor. But it's nothing serious and I'm sure you'll still look pretty good when you suit up :)

Just wanted to say you have been a major inspiration for me. Mainly that you got me off my ass and back to building my armor. The method of using the foamies for extra detail is genius. And one that I totally stole LOL.

If we're at it, where can one get 4mm thick foamies? In Europe?
Unfortunately a lot of dealers on Ebay don't ship here, or the costs are more than the item itself ;)

HE GERR GERK
Overload from sheer awesomeness, that is truly amazing work Roxy... I'm going to faint now
...Blah
