Congrats on the move to Elite, and in 3 posts only, that is a testament to your skill and the quality of your work.

Yes, I'm sucking up, but I think someone of your calibre deserves it!

Keep personal comments to PMs please. Awesome work so far. Yeah, this can stay for now, but lets not move projects until completion. too many times things are moved and never finished. Awesome work so far.

Edtied : Please read further back and there is already a topic on this.

EDIT: btw sevv, likin' the looks of this so far. awesome idea of casting your legs for a truly custom fit.

DOUBLE EDIT: just saw Adam beat me to posting prior to me saying this, sorry.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Another weeks work, at a passing glance not much appears to have changed with the cod and thigh... however there shapes are much better, the details, the curves, the surfaces are crisper. Definatly pleased with how its coming along. Next week, moving onto the calf and foot. Going to give them the same treatment.

Weekly update:

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to show :( my nets broken so I can't upload. The foot and calf are up to the standard of the cod and thigh now. Moving right onto the polish next week. It's looking good!

Are you planning on molding these? Or are you going to wear the hardened clay? and btw, how'd you get out of that plates manican suit thing?

I am indeed! a few other people in the UKG have expressed an interest. I want a squad at troops :D The finished suit will be fiberglass.

Are you referring to the pictures of my leg casting process? Easy... the mould was done in 2 halfs, front and back. An overlapping vaseline seem joined them... came apart like a dream.

My internet still isnt working :( So these have been uploaded via my iphone. These are the pics I took at the weekend, changes since and its neater but not overly.

Our aim is to finish this part of the sculpt by mid weekend, not sure if we will meet that deadline but we will do our best! Mould and cast... then reuse the clay and start the helmet next. Why not :)

I'm seriously amazed at the attention to detail and the precision in your work.

Admittedly, it's been 15 years since I've used clay, but having used it, I can definitely appreciate what you're doing!

Also, you're making me want to start working with clay again. ;)

wow, looks like britain does have talent, and lots of it, i have only used clay once, did it work, no, you must be REALLY skilled, and this is going to look amazing.

Thanks a lot guys... more pics!

We had a very long Saturday, 9am - 4am... but we got it done :)

3:54am Done!

Few more photos...

A few detail inserts/pieces will be made from plastic card and moulded separately. Will be more effort than sculpting them right onto the armour piece... but the end result will be better.

More photos soon, I hope to be fiberglassing by the end of the week.

What you have sir, is total bad-assness. There are some mighty jealous people wishing for your skills right about now. Twitching with anticipation for the finish. :)

:eek Have I died and gone to heaven??? :D

Brilliant sculpts Sevv! Just phenomenal!

I thought I'd try to impart some ancillary advice, since clearly you know what you're doing with the sculpt (and could probably teach us all a thing or two!). Some of the armor suits that I have seen that have been sculpted over-top of body molds have ended up being a bit confining in practical use. It's very tempting to make the suit fit as closely as possible, but you may need more room in the end. There are certainly pro's and con's to the approach; the suit will fit your proportions like a glove, but may not fit others as well, rigid castings may not allow enough room for muscles to flex, edges around knees and elbows may need to be scalloped for comfort, etc. You may want to talk to Devin White (of Blue Realm Studios)a bit about this because I know he used this same method for his sculpted suit and may have a few pointers that could save you some aggravation in the end. Devin's suit

I guess all I wanted to offer to you so early in the sculpt is to allow for plenty of extra room in your sculpt.. you may know cast resin pieces do shrink a little in the process between clay, molding and casting. You should certainly plan for having enough space for a reasonably defined undersuit as well as a cooling vest. Also remember that in a few years time you may gain/loose weight.. and expect how much a body contracts/expands when breathing heavily, etc..

Other than that tip, I've got no business telling you how to do things.. that sculpt is pro-grade absolutely.. keep up the phenomenal work and please keep us updated on your progress!

Awesome work. I will have to say you rank up there with the best sculpters on the site. Keep up the great work.

Thanks guys... with all the silicone on it looks like a giant cake at the moment :) Ill be fiberglassing the leg pieces this weekend... I just cant wait! lol

This sculpt definatly isnt figure hugging, far from it actually. Weve gone to great lengths to sculpt it proportionally correct, to a point, for MC. The photos dont really show it but the thigh and calf pieces especially are big on me. I will have to pad myself out quite a bit to make it all fit, make myself some muscles. It should fit a range of body types.

As for movability, again we hope weve planned for this :) The character of MC needs to be able to run, crouch etc. The low cut of the calf, the decent gap around the ankle and the fact it will be slightly big on me should allow plenty of movement.

Thanks for your kind words, as I said I cant wait to pull the moulds later this week and start fiberglassing on Saturday. Im going to Mem in Birmingham UK this weekend, get the UKG guys to try the pieces on... it will be very interesting to see how many people it fits.
