Man this is a thing of beauty I can see how much hard work has gone into this.

I honestly cant thankyou enough for releasing this masterpiece.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the armour now :)

If you look back at previous posts on peping armour to what we have here infront of us I think everyone would agree that the object files being put out back then where good but compared to what abates and many other talented modellers are doing right now.........not going to finish that sentence as I'm not sure how to put it without causing anyone offense but I'm sure you all get what I'm trying to say.

Hey agbates I was wondering what size you were going to size it too. Im 5'9 and not sure if u was around the same. it kinda makes it easier knowing the unfolders height

Thats what scaring me, building it to find it doesn't fit, not that im going to wear it...ehem.

This site needs a wardrobe department, where someone has pre-scaled the different peices to selected common heights, chests, heads and so on. Sorry for the train of thought derail.

Thanks a million for the comment. Its comments like these that make me give this stuff away for free.

As for scaling the armor, I derived a formula for getting the height based off a side image of the whole mk iv suit. I figured out how tall the chest was and then the whole mk iv suit and turned the chest into a percentage of the whole suit and found that it is 25.97% or 0.2597 of your height (plus an added inch or two because your armor when finished will not be the exact same height as you) Now if you are taking your measurements in inches you will have to convert your height to millimeters. To do so multiply your height in inches by 25.4. So basicly in short here is what you do...

1.) Take your height and convert it to millimeters by multiplying it by 25.4

ex. 6ft 2in (6ft plus an added inch for room to fit in) = 74in x 25.4 = 1879.6

2.) Multiply your height in millimeters by 0.2597

ex. 1879.6 x 0.2597 = 555.8mm

3.) Go into Pepakura Designer 3 (Note if you are using Pepakura Designer 2 then you will have to divide the height or your chest piece by 10), go up to the menu bar, select 2d pattern window, go to change the scale of the development, then finally go to specify scale. You will then enter in the height of your chest as the height.

I hope this helps and I'm sure it should work. As far as I can tell my math is correct.

Oh yeah and in case any one was wondering how the unfolding is coming I just finished setting all the open edges. It took so long because there were so many but now I just have to sort everything and fix things here and there.

EDIT

I fixed this so it is now safe to use if anyone is wanting to scale their chest now.

Wow abgates. This is truly amazing and a beautiful piece. Thank your for taking so much time into making this. It's just awesome to see this thing.

Major props to you man.

I don't think I need to tell you................you're the man!! Absolutely outstanding work man!!

AGBATES:

Hey your work is looking great and just wanted to say thanks sooo much for taking the time you have put in to this! Your models look great!

Also it says that the torso file is up. Could you post it up on the first page? That would be great so it is easier to find and you would save yourself the headache on everyone asking you later where is at. Just a thought.

Keep up the great work!

Wow, finally a good Mark 4.

The detail on the torso is simply amazing, not to mention the two shoulder pieces. Until you created these files, I actually thought the Mark IV was ugly.

Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see the rest of the suit.

Ok everyone I have I just completed a tester torso file. It is extremely low-poly but still has the same profile so whatever scale you use on it will also work for the HD torso. If you are wanting the file here it is. I started to set the open edges but reallized it is 10:41 so I am going to have to head to bed soon because its a school night. I can't wait till this years over then I can stay up whenever "I" choose to.

I am also close to being finished unfolding the HD Torso as well. Basicly the only thing I have left to do is the really detailed back section. I should have that file posted as well tommorrow. Also if anyone forgets where the files are I am now also posting them in the first post along with the scaling instructions.

Agbates:work looks great! I haven't looked through most of the pages, but I think someone like you should do/make a Marine from Halo Wars....unless the Marines from halo wars are just normal marines with the chest piece posted on the first page, with the goggles and balaclava, of course.

I think I wet myself when I saw this model....I have to concur that I always thought the IV was ugly....but this model...damn man you did such a fantastic job. Props to you...you get a virtual hug and cookie!

after seeing the final product this is amazing i think it looks better than the mkvi

EDIT* Oh i was meaning to ask before but is there any supports on the inside of the suit? those would be great and a huge help when building it

Just downloaded the full HD model..I have to say. You have really...really outdone yourself here man! It looks fantastic!!!! I started trying to do a rough unfold on it...I have to say..its pretty crazy!! This will be a beast of a pep file to make. But it will be amazing when its pulled off!! Again....AMAZING work man! Keep it up with the rest of armor and it will be godly.

I know agbates is the one that is wanting to get this unfolded for everyone. I am trying my version at an unfold, and so far the best way to do it is in sections, and save them individually. Once everything is unfolded, import them all into one file. Just my opinion.
