Hey Thorsolli, I sent you a PM on the RPF boards...I don't think you set up the PM system on here!!

Thorssoli's MkVI Costume Buildup was the first Thread i've read on 405th.com and from the first second i was a fan of your awesome work.
From molding to painting everything look's perfect, PERFECT WORK.

I make a Spartan III suit and if you have time check it out and give me some tips.

Cutting torso in two

Dauuummmm!!! Kudos Therossil, Ur armpur looks bad ass!!! I can wait til i start glassing and sanding my torso :p

Hey smil how do you make a two piece torso and secuessfully rejoin them. I finished a MKVI and cant get it back together. Any suggestions

Took me a couple of days but holly Hell! Great, I mean fantastic job on your suit. Your write up was so very helpful and you have answered most if not all my questions. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to post such a thorough write up of your armor creation. I've never made anything like this but I'm hoping with your thread, and this forum and my limited experience with models I can make something close.

Step one: Stop.

Step two: Read more (all of your questions have already been answered in this thread and in the stickies in the pepakura section).

Step three: Consider using proper grammar and capitalization so nobody will mistake you for an ignoramus.

Step four: Start again with a small piece (a handplate for example) so you won't waste too much time in the learning stages.

Hopefully this will help you.

With the marathon of exhaustion I've been going through the past few days and the on and off snail's-pace progress I've been making on this project, I will say I was more than a bit elated to finally be putting the damned thing on. Unfortunately, there's no way I could do it without at least one other person to help snap and strap things in place. Here's how it goes...

Step one: put on the lower half of everything so that the thigh straps go up over the shoulders:

Step two: put on the top half of the undersuit:

Step three: strap on the diaper, backplate, and abplate, making sure everything is lined up:

Step four: slip on the arm parts, gloves, and hood, then buckle the chest in place:

Step five: don helmet, grab a weapon, and look menacing:

Step six: pwnage test:

Now I've had a chance to test out the whole rig and I've got a lot of ideas for improvements. I also need to get to work on a blue suit.

First up: finding an easier way to go to the bathroom while in costume:

Comments/criticisms welcome as always.

Congrats man, I have been foolowing your thread from the begining. Your finshed costume is a really great work.

I signed up just to say that, obviously, this is an amazing set of armor, and to ask a few questions about the helmet that I never saw finalized, or probably just missed as this thread was massive, very in depth, and a lot to take in.

I remember you saying that you intended to put a lot of things in the helmets, such as a rearview camera, radios, a spot for an MP3 player, and I think a fan. What did you end up using in finalized model, or is the entire helmet a continual WIP that you aren't sure you'll ever be satisfied with?
Second question being, was the underarmor hood significant in reducing visor fogging or was it just what you chose because it covered your neck/chin well?

Great build, great shop, great other projects, honestly, I'm afraid I'm going to wear that word out :p I love your gnome and Cthulu ebay listings, if I wasn't flat broke atm I would probably snag the Cthulu. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the final castings of the boots.

In my mad rush to finish a suit for the Reach launch, I didn't get everything built in that I wanted. I have the camera system in a box on one of my shelves. When I install it, it'll be removable and the camera itself will probably be mounted in he backplate of the armor. I haven't made up my mind on that yet. For radios, I'm actually planning on using a throat mic setup so I don't have to wire up the helmet any more than I have (and so it'll still work if I take the helmet off). I also plan to put the mp3 player and an amplifier in the back armor. There's a lot of room in there.

What I actually did have in the helmet for the Reach launch was the headlights, the side marker lights, a pair of fans, four AA batteries, six AAA batteries, and one 9V. Most of the batteries were there simply because I had pre-wired components on hand and my soldering gun broke so I couldn't rewire them for a common power source.

The hood did nothing to reduce fogging. The fans were a bit of help, but I need to work out a better air duct system to get fresh air into the helmet.

I've got a few more helmets to make between now and Halloween, so I'll incorporate a few improvements:

Thanks for the kind words.
