Awesome looking foam work. :D

Thanks you both very much for the great comments. :)

It's been a long time since I posted in this thread. Sadly, I don't have any new updates to show you wonderful guys and gals. However, this build is not dead. It has unfortunately had to take a back seat for a while. I started college the beginning of January and I haven't had much time to work on anything other than casting a helmet or two here and there. I am trying my best to free up some time so this build can get finished. I appreciate the support over the years from my friends here on the 405th. (Wow, has it really been years?) I'll be back with actual progress as soon as I can. Until then, keep on building and posting 405th! :D

I have a small update on the armor, mainly the boots. I managed to build the back half of the left boot. It turned out pretty good in my opinion. The only thing I'm too thrilled about are the buckles. I may redo those. We'll see.

You can see in this pic at the bottom where I had to modify the foam a little to raise the side a little. I don't know what happened but anyway. You won't be able to tell it once I smooth it out.

It fits my shoe very well also.

I'm going to try and get the toe finished up early next week. Stay tuned and thanks in advance for the comments and any help you can give. It is all appreciated. :D

Wooow!! Dude that is some sick clean work there bro. Really good to not only see an update but such an amazing one at that.

Tom.

Very sharp foam work, this newb has work to do!
Thanks Aden!
Damm Rusty the attention to detail is un-real... Great work my friend.
I'm getting better Jim. I still have a way to go to catch up with you though buddy. :)
Wow, very nice looking footwear. How did you do the circles? They're so... circular.
Thanks Halex. My Hot knife has a circle attachment that I used to burn the circles in. For the larger ones on the front, I marked the circles with a template then burned it in a little at a time.

I really appreciate it Tom. I'm looking forward to seeing more on your Iron Man build my friend. :D

Aw man. I'm SOOO jealous of you foam building skills. I just rebuilt my boots out of foam after the fiberglass ones broke at a con. You make my foam boots look like crap. Thats a compliment. Awesome job!!!

I hve nothing that i could say to show how awesome those are. I cant believe you did that out of foam... Great work V

Loving the detail on that boot. :D

Very clean foam work. Can't wait to see the whole boot.

Thanks thorn and Redshirt. That really means a lot coming from you two. I really respect both of you as builders and I really appreciate your comments. :D

RT, you should have seen the first boot that I did. Not pretty. It just takes practice my friend. Don't down yourself. Thanks so much for the compliment. :)

Nice job Rusty, sorry I just seen the text you sent me for refrence pics, but it looks like you got it all handled, nice and clean

It's all good man. I appreciate your help with the boots by the way. It would have been a whole lot harder without it.:D

Halex asked earlier how I added the circles to the boot. Here is what I used. It is made by a company called Walnut Hollow.

Here is a close up of the different tips it comes with. Please note, it only comes with one blade but I bought an extra pack to have on hand.

I used the flat round one on the left for the circles on the boot. The kit was around $30 but has already proved to be worth the money. Hope this helps and stay tuned for more soon. :D
