Still have some detail work ti do on the skull and the company number to put on the forehead an of course paint for the whole thing but its coming along nicely. And correct me if I am wrong I'm going on what I've read and remember from playing but the shoulder with the chapter symbol does go on the left right?? I am thinking that that is the case I just want to know if y'all have any objections. Also any ideas in the air for what I should put on the other shoulder?? I'm thinking an eagle but I'm not sold on it let me know what you gigs think.

And I got some major progress on the piece I've been most excited about. THE BACKPACK!!

This has been the most difficult piece since it is a closed hollow piece. I glassed it from the inside out. Let me know what you think about it, I have a half day of work today so my afternoon will be back and forth between dremmeling the sharp and excess glass/resin off this thing and the detail work on the shoulder. Hopefully ill get to adding bondo on it by tonight.

Great work on the shoulder. Also, that back pack looks killer! You're making great progress on your build. :D

Yes, the chapter insignia goes to the left shoulder, and the tactical indication goes to the right one. And your build is sick, man! How are you able to pep and resin so fast? Can't wait to see this finished!

Well the pep process was easy they were very simple files. Ral Partha is a god at that. But in all actuality I started that build back in like October/November so it hasn't been that fast.

Backpack looks amazing! I would hate to glass something inside out like that, but it looks like yours went well.

Your shoulder looks great too. Haveing an eagle on the other one sounds good to me. I couldn't think of anything else, except maybe 2 crossed chainswords (I was reading thorsolli's thread, gotta love those chainswords)

Thanks guys! And the pack is amazing except now I'm out of bondo. So I will continue to work on the shoulder details and try to rig them so I can wear them soon. Also might start on a foam bolt pistol as well.

I would really love to get going on one of my weapons choices bit I was hoping one of you guys had some advice for me in constructing a bolt pistol or bolter out of foam. Building the weapon itself doesn't bother me its working with foam for constructiing a weapon, I've never done it and was hoping on pointers.

I can't help with the bolter specifically, but I follow one guy's blog who made a bunch of Mass Effect M8 Rifles out of foam. Here is the first post where he talks about his process http://bioweapons.wordpress.com/2010/08/05/m8-assault-rifle-day-1/.

Another blog I follow is volpinprops.blogspot.com and I love it. He doesn't do foam weapons bbut he made a really shiny bolt pistol for the ultramarines booth at NYCC. You can read about his build process and find blueprints for the pistol HERE

Finally, Gamemaster has made an amazing H3 shotgun (you may have seen Longshot-X posing with it) out of foam. He made a wonderful tutorial which desccribes how to build your own shotgun which you should read HERE.

Read through these 3 pages and you will be set to begin. Hope that helps!

now I have a question, I have my nylon straps cut out and ready to go. I have where I want them to go, where I want them anchored to the suit so they make connection, What I dont have is how to anchor them???? I am thinking gorilla glue since it has worked out so well for me everywhere else I have used it but do any of you guys have a better suggestion?? let me know what you think of the progress so far as well.
thanks guys, your the greatest.

So far it's looking pretty cool. I don't have anything to contribute in terms of construction, but it's definitely looking pretty awesome. Also, is it just the one shoulder you have done right now?

I have to agree with you.... It is AWESOME!

Can't wait for the next update.

Cheers!

the second one is finished as far as construction goes, but the eagle I plan on crafting on it is not done yet. I still have to get that finished and paint it first but for arguments sake I could attach it now and have pose worthy photos, but I still have to figure out how I want to anchor the nylon webbing to the pieces themselves first. I just dont like taking pics of pieces in their raw form. lol

And thanks Longshot, even though this is not Halo related, your build is what got me into the craft in the first place. So you are still my inspiration man, its your fault this is turning out so good. lol

"My fault" that it is turning out so good. LOL
Well then.... KUDO's that my fault is inspiring your build to greatness. LOL

As for your strapping. If I'm correct, your armor is made out of fiberglass. If so, you can do what I did and "resin" the straps in place.

:)

Alright well I had not thought of that, I used gorilla glue and let it cure over night and it worked greatly. Just not as good as I wood like so resin may be the be the bond to suit me. Thanks Longshot! Yet again learning so much from you.
