that is awesome! i love the FUD helmet, and this 3D print is spot on. keep the updates coming man, it looks great.

I have a little bit of progress to show on the FUD. I smoothed out right side of the brim more. There are only a couple of tiny spots to touch up, carve the detail line that separates the brim from the upper part of the helmet, then that area will be more or less done.

I also have most of the upper right side done. I added the detail lines around the semi-circle portion, and cleaned the line that runs up toward the top of the helmet. You can see other areas being worked on by the spot filler that's in place.

We're close to the half way point now. I'm ready to get this puppy done and get some silicone on it, but...I'm not going to rush. I want it to be as close to perfect as I can get it.

Thanks for that alpha! I'm still working on smoothing out the areas that have spot filler on them, as I went home early yesterday not feeling good. I'll be back at it today.

Back with another FUD update!

I added the detail line that separates the brim from the upper portion of the helmet.

I've also done some work on the center and top left sections of the helmet. Still more to be done.

The recess on the rear of the helmet received quite a bit of attention. Just a couple of small touch ups and that area will be done.

The left side brim and temple area also got some love. Again, still more to be done but we're making progress!

I'm hoping to have the bulk of the filling and sanding done by the end of the week.

Detail lines are now carved in on the left side as well.

The top is more or less done.

Small bit left to finish on the left side, then the back is done.

Smoothing out the underside of the brim in preparation for the raised details.

Visor needs another coat in some areas, but it's nearing completion.

Temple details are almost done as well.

I appreciate all the support thus far, should be wrapping the build portion up soon!

I had to end up cutting out the recess opening because the temple detail wouldn't go far enough back to get it accurate looking. After I drilled holes in the corners, I used the exacto saw blades to cut it free. Next I super glued the temple and cheek details in place and did a final sand around the areas where the glue had ran out.

After that, I made up some templates for the under side of the brim, then transferred those to thin plastic, and super glued those in place.

I then used spot filler to fill in any gaps around the edges and sanded it smooth and gave it a coat of primer.

Well, we are finally at the end with this, build wise anyway. Here are some pics for you to peruse.

I'm going to go over it lightly once more with fine sand paper, then I'll be clearing it to get it all slicked out and ready for the silicone. Now the scary part begins.....molding. :eek

It saves time over pepping, but there is still A LOT of work to be done. It does have it's advantages though.

I have the cardboard insert glued in place, and I'll be starting this morning on the silicone.

I got slammed with work yesterday, and didn't get a chance to do anything with it.

For sure.

The mold is done and it turned out great! I couldn't be happier...especially for the first time ever making a mold.

The shell isn't the smoothest, but for a first try it turned out fine.

I'm in the process of pouring the first cast now, so we'll see later today if all the hard work has paid off.
