im thinking about going for a shiny black finish, like a new set of armour maybe some scratches here and there, i play online with black so i think it fits me well! not good for australias weather though...

Hmm... To be honest I'm not a huge fan of gloss (on props). But it's up to you, of course. In my opinion, I think going with a flat dark grey would look much better than gloss black. Not to say it would look bad black, but usually from what I've seen, really dark glossy colours tend to look a little... uhh... bad. (I can't think of the word I want to say... :p)

Something like this:

As opposed to something like this... (pretty much the helmet)

So again, it's all up to you. Just figured I'd throw this in though.

I have to agree a little with mustang2500, glossy armor (or props in general) tend to look... plastic. What I think would work, would be for you to go with a flat, gun-metal gray base, and a light spray of black over it... just enough to give it some depth. It would still be close to what you want, and look hella' realistic XD

Yeah, and if I'm correct, he's wearing the Rube ODST helmet... I wish I could get my hands on one of those...

Good work! I like what I'm seeing!

arite! i'm back after spending some much loved time on my hd chest... i have the utmost respect for anyone who is or has put the effort into make this, its so much work and so many hours! anyway here is some pictures of my chest so far.. ignore my face as i'm tired as and its damn hard to take a pic when there is no one home to help! :D

and also on a side note, i've read your comments about the black situation and i totally agree with the plastic look of shiny black looking bad. so that is a no go for me.. i am going to do some testing sprays when i have a finished piece. i'm going to go for a dark black undercoat and a rustic grey on top with scratches etc on it.. no gloss! but that will just be a tester... so i will put up some images of how it will look and grab your opinion on it :)

anyway here you guys.. the almost finished chest..

and sorry for the bad quality my phone sucks :D

agreed amazing work!! wish i could compete with you at your level, you output peices really fast compared to me. i thaing that 3 week marine project took all the quick cutting and folding out of me. keep up the good work!

Great work pepping the chest, it looks great on you! One part of the back concerns me though which is at the bottom near the middle where those vent things are, or whatever those things are supposed to be. :lol Looks kinda warped but I think once you add support struts it should straighten everything. I just finished adding the last of my support struts on mine and now its pretty solid and ready for resin. I may make the neck hole on my torso armor bigger too after I resin it. I have a feeling the chest will be a tight fit on me with the pressure suit and everything and I dont want it to end up choking me xD Oh a question too, do you know exactly where you are going to cut the torso into 2 pieces to be able to put it on once its all together?

very nice!!! everything looks right on scale, way better than my first one, hope to see it done soon!!

You cut the chest at the bottom straps and just below the top vents of the chest
