I'll probably end up spending somewhere in the ballpark of about $300 or so. That's taking into account that some of the materials I already had lying around (the bolts, foam core, some of the paint, etc).

gahhhhh!
your lucky.. for me its around $600 to $1000 ...
thats australia for you..

Yo Carp I just thought of something. Instead of wingunts, why don't you use regular nuts on the visor?

I had originally planned on that, but I chose the wingnuts for a few reasons...

1. The bolts themselves go out beyond the wingnuts, so regular nuts wouldn't lessen the chance of anything touching my face, which there is no danger of now anyway

2. Wingnuts allow for a better distribution of pressure (ie, more surface area of the nut touching the visor = less chance of a breakthrough or cracking)

3. It's a lot easier to unscrew the wingnuts than it would be to unscrew the smaller regular nuts

4. The wingnuts do not interfere with my vision out of the visor

Looks amazing i think something should go in the elite section. ;) I though my armor was good now i see othesrs an di relize mines terriable. :(

Well, I did something last night, that I'm not proud of. I tried to rush finish the attachment to the helmet. Here's a few pictures of it...

Needless to say, it looks terrible. So, rather than wasting any more materials trying to fix a now inaccurate piece, I decided to pull up the old file, remodel it and re-pep it. Thanks to Minkyboi for the screencap of the attachment. It helped my model this...

I'll be resining and hardening this with my slower curing resin, so I can do it at night while I can't do anything else with my armor.

For those interested, here is the link for the pep file...

Wow I can actually say I was the 1st to download something XD I'm also doing the final Carter helmet. I'm still making the old one, but I'm gonna finish it later, cause I hate unfinished work, but I'll have everything helmet related resined tomorrowish

im loving your build carpathia!
hopefully your new attachment will turn out better this time around :p

Hey, Carp, looks really great, but I have a question.
How do you close up the peps like that attachment?
All the pep weapons are like that

When I'm making a pep that is closed, I always make the last piece I put on a tabless piece. That way, I get a good amount of glue on the tabs, put the tabless part on and make sure everything lines up as the glue sets. This usually means that the tabs will not be completely sitting against that last piece, but the excess glue holds it in place just fine. If I have some time, I'll post a quick tut on that.

I even managed to get my knife resined and filled with rondo. It is now rock hard and ready to be smoothed out and painted.

Did you do a solid cast of the knife in rondo? If you did, where did you pour it thorugh? I tried it, and it didnt work out so well..... =/

For the knife, I left the piece at the end of the grip off while I resined it so I had a place to pour in the hardener. Then, I mixed some thin, fast curing rondo and poured it in. I noticed while I did this that the blade started to bloat out, so I stopped pouring and poured what was in the knife back into my rondo batch. The blade went back to normal. I then let the rondo harden, then once it was cured, finished filling it up with rondo, let that cure, sanded the end down and put on that last piece to close the model. I've got it somewhat painted, so I'll post pics of it as soon as I get home.

Ok, thanks!
But what happens if there aren't any tabless pieces?
Note: I'm not making a closed model now, I just want to know how :p

This is one of the best looking builds I've seen yet. I especially like that AR, get that thing done, I want to see the finished product!!
