Ok i hope everyone had a great Christmas/New year break! I know i did.
Ive had a bit of time to work on the Helmet but as its been raining so much again (I hope QLD dries out soon...) there havent been as many dry days.
More sanding and filling. Every time i sand i oncover a hole that needs to be filled then sanded lol. Its almost never ending. This time i was working on the hose sockets. I taped them on then filled the gap with body filler until it was solid then cut around the edge to make sure it was neat. Once everything was dry i pressed the sockets out and gave it a good sand. Voi la! Looks good! (Also another coat of primer.)
wow this is looking really great! you have really been sanding. I will do a bower armor helm in the future. i'll make sure to use your thread for a reference. By the way, can you post another link to the pep file for the laser pistol? the other link sends me to some search engine that isn't good. or maybe you can pm me the file. I really want it lol. but great work! looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Thanks for the compliment The link is still valid, it doesnt show complete but when you click it it should work correctly. By the way you should check out RoadWarrior's full power armor build. I was following his as reference
Thanks RoadWarrior and IllynReaver! The updates have been slow of late due to other things happening but it will be finished.
Maybe At this point i have the cheapy primer for finding and smoothing the faults but i have a 'real' fiberglass primer in a tin in white which ill use when im ready to paint.
Ok heres a quick update i snuck in between work on other projects. Filed and shaped the eye area ready for a screen. Needs some bondo to fill in the small holes but its close now.
Ok its now had a fine sand and had its first full undercoat. GOOD ENOUGH Heh im done with sanding for now. I have some chrome paint ready to test on something that i can see how the weathering works..
Also you can see ive started work on the details, ie the little bar thing on the right side of the eyepiece.
Im now looking at a way to make the sight/leaver thing on the right side, the hinge on the nose bridge and the lamp on the forehead. Ooo and the eye screen too. Cant for get that. Anyway once its made and working i might try hooking up a servo with some LEDs to make it that little bit more interactive.
Another update. I feel like im making progress finally.
Added some 'bits' that may or maynot be even lol... (Ill fix it later if its a problem, though i did measure it. Could be the camera angle.)
Located the eye bar and will make another for the other side. Ill sand it round so it doesnt look melted.
Mounted the servo for the sight arm.
It still needs to be trimmed to the correct size and have the bits added to it. I went out and bought $1 binoculars and cheap 3LED torches for the lamp. All up im pretty happy with how its looking.
To-do list: eye glass, electronics, coloured LEDs, sight contruction, moisture drain (See the 'x' below the right eye).
