Peter,

I wondering how much in the way of 3D animation you will be using in the movie. I am supposing that things such as pelicans, and covenant vehicles will be animated.

Do you already have an animator in mind, or are you looking for somebody? I have experience modeling and animating in blender, if you need an animator I can provide my services.

The only obstacle I have is that I have mediocre rendering capability.

Anyways, keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Pelicans, Scorpions, Longswords, Hornets, Wraiths, Banshees, buildings... lots of VFX to be done. We are still recruiting crew, and the crew will eventually be contacted by Sean Farrow, our VFX Supervisor, so we can get ourselves squared away in time for production. If you are interested, it's best you put a reel together and send me your reel and CV so I can forward it to him.

Pete

Hey Peter, if your ever in need of any prop rifles or anything like that, contact me with a basic outline of the weapon, and I will gladly put togeather a prototype for you.

Cheers mate, the progress on the 'hog is awesome, and cant wait to see that marine armour!

So, after much, much hassle with the nice guys at FedEx, the vest prototype is away to the makers so we can get the second prototype made. Here are a few rough photos to show the design we've come up with:

These photos lack any foam inside the vests - the vest itself as well as the upper arms all have pockets to put foam in, and are sealed with velcro for easy access. The belt loops and attachments are also a little rough, but I hope the "production" version will be somewhat neater. Also, excuse the belt gear - the only pouches I had to hand were from my screen-used Starship Troopers and Doom outfits, so I cobbled a webset together. Lastly, there's no back protector detailing yet - that will have to be hand-stitched by ourselves rather than the makers due to the increased production costs.

When the final vest arrives back from the makers and we start work on the actual armour plates, I will likely do a tutorial of a sort about the vests and how they attach to the armour (showing connection points, construction and so on). I am also hopeful we will be able to show the final "load out" for the Marines websets soon - though as you can see we're sticking with the desert uniforms. :)

Well, lets put it this way - 1 meter long models won't be out of the question ;)/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> scales would therefore range between 1:5, 1:30 and 1:60 for the Banshee, Pelican and Longsword respectively in those scales.

We are pushing for a full Pelican passenger bay set as well, but we will have to see how things work out. That is a longer term goal.

I know that this is kinda necro-posting because this post is far in the past, but I had an idea when I read it. In pelicans, the pilot's cockpit is seperated by one door (I think). You could actuallly have the passenger bay and could catch a glimpse of the pilots. More realism, but then you'd have to green screan the view from the cockpit Just rambling :lol

Photo negative or normal lol, great work, can't way for more. Better start the Covenent Armor, although I think CGI would look more realistic. The Official Halo Movie did real life with the brutes, and it didn't look that real

Actually I was under the impression that most of the brutes in the shorts were CG, and made suits as placeholders?

Hehe, China, I'm here in China and there's everything. Except you know, they blocked facebook again because of the xinjiang riots. >.> /rant

As it is, that marine vest looks pretty good, can't wait to see armor plates.

Yeah, we're having to get all manner of stuff from China - pouches, the vests, belts, the MOLLE leg panels...

The brutes were a real costume, maybe a touch of CG. Theres a picture somewhere of the Weta brute costume, and a picture of the guy in it. I'll post what I can find.

HaloBrute43.jpg

Thats the only one I could find right now :( But theres 2 others I know of.

The only problem is that that is not what we see in the shorts. That's just a still photo of some other kind of filming, so who knows if the costumes were actually used in the sequences we saw?

Regardless, I hope our costumes can compare to those.
