I think the pouch'll look great.

I've always liked pouches on suits. Not only are they convenient, but, to me, they just add a certain aesthetic quality.

You said you're going to add it to your shin. Is that wise? I'd have thought thigh at the very least if not hip.
I guess I'm just paranoid.

Truly amazing work on the rest of your suit, by the way. I'm really enjoying watching your progress. Builds like this really make me want to finally start my own.

I agree. Spartans have to carry ammo somewhere and in the games we don't see any of it.
Halo: CE and Halo: Reach had some great pouches, while in Halo 4/5 we see these like - not at all.

Well, I can't have these on my thigh as I'll be using dual Magnums - so both thighs are taken.
As for hips - no-go as GEN2 doesn't have any belt or what so ever on the hips - they have nothing attached there, ever.

I don't mind on the shin pieces - on left side I will have the knife, on the right the pouch.
I mean, if I will attach it permanently, it won't ever fall off, also I'll always be able to see it and access it easily if needed.

Also, thank you very much. You should start your own costume! :D

Mara, everyday it's something new. Just FANTASTIC. You'll be finished way before you deadline.

Lt, you should have called Royal Pepakurawan, then it would have been more proper. ;)

Aye, Commander! *mumbles centuries old derogatory comments about the English as he walks away..*

I feel like the shin could be a bad spot to add it simply because we hit our legs on a lot of things and don't realize it. But if you mold it into it, I suppose there's no major danger to it. I plan on adding ammo pouches too, there's no sense not to have them!

Ha, updates. I know I have little right to talk about it, but I always look forward too the stuff Mara comes up with too, just like Dirtdives wrote.
I see no issues with the pouches. If anything, it's more realistic that the "out of thin air" or the "infinity bag" approach you see in most games or movies.

Outstanding work as always. If you'd get a penny for each time I'd stole an idea from you ..... :)

I have to. There is still a lot of work to do, but at least for now I'm confident I should make it.
Thank you very much.

Huh? Well, it's on the outerside, and nothing should happen to the pouch, I plan to attach it permanently, so it will definitely not fall off or anything.
Ammo pouches are great! Tactical, haha. :D

Yeah! That's the reason why I loved the pouches in Reach... It's so unrealistic that Spartans have no pouches in Halo 4/5. Sure, they can attach some magazines to the magnetized areas on the armor, but it wouldn't be enough, right?
Carrying pouches like the Soldier armor or Helljumper looks cool and way more practical.

And in the games it's always hilarious for me that Spartans just get these magazines out of thin air - they just appear in their hands... V_V
So, even just visually them carrying pouches would be nice, or even a magazine or two visible on their armor.

Oh! That's good! That's why I share stuff I'm doing. :D

Now I consider the visor being perfect. :D
While I had this visor material, I wasn't completely satisfied, because it looked more or less plastic... So I used the method I did when I did my own visors and made this formed thing on top of the hex material.
And now it's perfect. @_@ Looks more like a real visor IMO.
It doesn't look so plastic anymore, looks more real and the hexagon is still visible but more subtle. :D

...and yes, I promise I will make a tutorial soon. I'm serious, I just have to clean and do some stuff.

Also, here is a teaser for the tutorial. It isn't near the quality I'll be doing it, though.
Some friends wanted to know how I did the visor so I made a very quick video just to quickly explain.
For the real tutorial I'll walk through each process and will make a proper quality of the video (with my digital camera and not my cellphone), etc.

I, for one, am definitely going to appreciate the tutorial when you make it.

For me, (and perhaps for others, too) the visor is the one thing I dread the most and just never want to ever do, ever. And seeing your final result which looks fantastic, It'll be nice to have a guide and 'everything handed to me on a plate' so to speak. As I plan to start my build soon, I look forward to this.

As always everything is looking great. Well done. :)

I am actually looking forward to doing my visor.

Mara proves it can be done.

Some members asked how I did it, so I thought I'll make a tutorial to hopefully help people.

I'll try to make it next week or something. DEFINITELY in June.
Yeah, lol, I'm doing this build to prove that it can be done, hahah. xD

All of them

Like I said, I'm going to make a tutorial, however in this thread I've talked several times about how I was making it - more or less and on the first post there are all credits for both masterbuilder and Icon Props, etc.

This is absolutely fantastic! You did such a great job on this! I am literally just now starting my journey of making this suit as well. How did you go about attaching the visor to the inside of the helmet?

Thank you very much! I'm very happy you like it.

Good luck on your build and please, share progress. :)

How I attached the visor - literally like pieces of tape to secure the visor.
But I won't permanently attach the visor anyway as I want to make the second visor - cracked one, so I'll want to be able to change them.

that visor looks freaking noise!

*freaking out* OMG OMG OMG I'm so happy to show you this.

This is how I've spent last few days. Forearm pretty much finished! Yay!

// I could show some wip-photos, but these are mainly where I was almost finished with sanding, then painting, covering the areas for painting, etc. //

Today I've spent pretty much whole day outside finishing the sanding on the forearm. Primed and painted the first color, later had to cover forearm to paint the darker parts and at the end I had to draw the stencils for the red markings.
THEN I had to draw them on the forearm, cut out the shape and painted it.

Now, it's almost finished. Almost, because well, I have to weather it. OH, and I still have to do some actual scratches and such.
But it feels SO GOOD! It's yet another piece I can actually put together and see how pretty the build is becoming - the actual progress. It's the best feeling, I dare to say.

Also, these forearms are hardest so far, while the pepped file had edges everywhere, I had to smoothen the hardened piece to make it round and such. It took SO MUCH time.
(I'm NOT complaining about the file - because of the so many different pieces it was very stable and all, I'm just saying removing the edges and making it round took a while)

I just wanted to share it, because I'm feeling so happy right now!
And yeah, I know these aren't perfect, but I'm satisfied anyway.

(AND ALSO I'll have to connect the forearm gauntlet with the elbow)

Agreed ^

Mara, you're putting me off making my own suit as it'll never be equal to or greater than yours. :p

Out of interest, how did you do those outline grooves in the grey areas? Dremel?

We all must start somewhere. Other builds should inspire, not create hesitation, Spartans ;)

Keep up the wonders, Mara!

Great work Mara!

I like that shot with the knife.

If that final shot is just 'angry palmer', then i'd hate to see RAGE-MODE palmer!!

Looks great!, the amount of detail you were able to capture in this piece and all the others is outstanding !!
(no pressure for the future pieces)

Now you get to do all that sanding all over again for the other one!!
