Update:
Looks great. Looking forward to the final product. After I finish my current project, I'm going to do a Grif build.

Thanks!
I'm not looking to perfect this yet because I'm trying to get it ready for GC Supanova in 2 weeks, but It should still look damn good once its done!
I think the world needs way more RvB characters!
Latest picture of progress, the rest of the boots are glassed and the right bicep is glassed now too along with the ab plate that goes under the chest,
helmet's had what is hopefully the last bit of bog put on it and its looking ever so much closer to completion

All I have left is shins, thighs, chest and right forearm!

Update:

My helmet is slowly becoming a thing of beauty, some small holes to putty and the left cheek needs work, then just some strengthening around the open edges and its time to work on the visor!

Update:

So today I finished fibreglassing the right shin, the thighs are half done, the chest is about 1/5th done
and ofcourse, spent half my money on the remaining things I need for this build, that being heaps of foam, primer, rubber for the boot soles, elastic, velcro, a pair of welding visors, putty, vinyl for the undersuit, and ofcourse...

Sweet as heck metallic blue hammer finish!

13483792525_ee4d3c2b92.jpg

and I bogged a whole lot of holes, so basically I'm up to the power sanding stage once I finish glassing the other shin, the thighs and chest.

Looking pretty good so far.
I really like how the thigh pieces look.
That metallic blue looks cool too.
Keep up the great work :)

Thanks man! (your foam build is sweet!)
I'm loving the metallic blue hammered finish myself too!
Did heapppssss today, sadly It's being rushed and missing the nice smoothing of bog, but it still looks fairly decent without it, and I'll probably come back and do it later.

here's my boots in construction, they are shoes glued to foam soles that raise me an inch or two and then they are glued to the fibreglass pieces, next up is gluing the rubber to the soles of the fibreglass pieces!
13581842843_a71f34b41e.jpg

These are my ab piece and belt boxes all painted and ready! (minus the black details on the boxes)
13581774175_43090539a6.jpg

My forearms and left bicep all painted in sweet sweet metallic blue (again minus the black details)
13581776195_5cb52cef37.jpg

my codpiece got its last coat of bog, and the chest has been mostly fibreglassed
but I ran out of matting, so i'm going to rondo the last little bits that I didn't get to fibreglass tomorrow
13581775335_e2bb3a02f0.jpg

my helmet ready for painting at last!
13581838363_7d4f255166.jpg

and lastly the thighs and shins ready for sanding and painting!
13582162344_eec74131b5.jpg

so here's my to do list for tomorrow/friday:

still needs bog/resin work:
- chest

still have to sand:
- left thigh and shins

still have to paint:
- the above pieces
- butt plate
- Right thigh

I just have those last few bits to go tomorrow/ friday
and hopefully I can have it all strapped up and finished for the weekend!
(quite the wishful thinker aren't I)

Update:

Sooo due to some drama on the weekend and generally not having time to strap him up I didn't get to wear caboose for supanova :C
luckily I had a few spare clones to wear :p

13714733103_4d8c1ff9e6.jpg

This is what he looks like at the moment, going to go back and bog the chest, forearms, thighs and right bicep
but after that I'll strap him up and have him finished at last!

that visor is temporary until i can figure out how to get the shape of it right

Thankyou! :D
I'm strapping it up very carefully from the boots to the helmet, so I'll have it nice and wearable fairly soon!

Speaking of the boots, they are all strapped up!
rubber soles and vinyl covers are on,
it needs some trimming on the opening though

13812997313_1fc7482e81.jpg

next up is trimming the opening on the boots and shins a little bit, then strapping up the shins to wear!

This is an awesome looking build, I'm sure you'll have it looking fantastic for supanova next year.

If I can get into our new house soon enough and get my butt back into gear maybe we can meet up and join forces as Caboose, Tex and Agent Maine next year :)

I really love your other suits too, Great work!

Thankyou Sara!
just had a look through your build, amazing detail work, I saw your bondo tutorial a while ago when browsing through threads.
I can't believe you are doing four suits at once, especially with all the details. I hope you get back in the shed soon, your work is incredible!
I'd also love to see what products (fibreglass, bog, mould stuff etc) you were using on your build (and where you got them from), finding cost effective materials here would be very helpful!
and hey if you wanna chat about armour and what not you can usually find me at supanova wearing a 501st redback shirt with the name 'Glitch' on it!
failing that i'd probably be in one of my many clone outfits, but for brisbane supanova this year I will definitely have Caboose ready to go!

as for my armour,
I've had a bit of a slow week, an assignment to do and life to catch up on after Supanova,
but I've spray painted the black details on my helmet, just gotta do the complicated back details, which I think i might carve in.

13870749314_ea8e092a46.jpg

13870398243_8a94b73f0f.jpg

also cut out the openings on the boots and shins to be comfortable, onto strapping up the shins when I'm done with this assignment and easter weekend, then I'm up to bogging the nasty polygonal parts on the thighs!

Also, having serious trouble with the visor, I don't want to have a flat one similar to other Halo 3 MK V helmets that I've seen, is there any way to get a nice curve to the visor that is anything like the game model?

They have gold bubble visors on eBay. From what I've seen, they won't cover the extended visor area by the ears though. My plan is pep the visor pieces only, reinforce with fiberglass, smooth, then heat bend thin plexiglass over it.

No idea if it will work as planned yet. I'm still in the pep stage of the build.

Hey Glitch, Thanks for the compliments.

I just get all my bog from Supercheap Auto (septone brand) or Cedl Agency 3M brand, they stock a bigger size so it's better value for money.

All my moulding and casting supplies come from barnes.com.au you can purchase in store or they have a store in Brisbane and the staff are an absolute wealth of knowledge.

If you can't find a pre-made visor that suits your needs your could form a buck and I could vac form one for you, I have a heap of excess petg that ended up being too thick for my EVA visors, the only thing is you'f have to deal with colouring them then. A mist of silver and a coat of clear yellow/orange seems to do the trick.

We're not doing 4 freelancers anymore, Washington and Carolina left the freelancer program, I still have their helmets so I'll finish the Carolina. Seems fitting, I did a lot of their pepping and all of their resining anyway. Tex and Maine live to fight another day.

Your work is looking good :) I love that shade of blue.

Yeah i'm starting to think the same thing, I had a motorcycle visor but that wouldnt bend nicely, and then i tried heating up some welding visors, which bent but were very difficult to get into the right shape,
I think either way I do this I'll need a buck to make it

ah cool!
I use the same stuff like the septone car filler, hadn't heard of the Cedl Agency 3M brand, will have to have a look at that
and I've been in to barnes once but I don't head up there too often, I haven't done much moulding and casting but I'd love to get more into it

I would actually like to try to form the visor, whereabouts in QLD are you?
sucks to hear it doesnt work well on your EVA visor and thats very sad to hear your team is now halved, D:
My lady actually wants to start a tex for brisnova, so we'll see how that goes, maybe we can pass one of you off as tucker after a teleporter mishap :p

and i really love the blue I got, its the septone hammered blue from supercheap for like $20
the only thing that bothers me is that the hammered finish takes away from the perfect smooth lines on the helmet that i had,
but I still think in the end its going to look great
