Looks awesome!Belakor said:Not sure if anyone else has posted photos a completed torso built from your file but just in case they haven't... I finished this and started resining yesterday
It's a monster of a build but totally worth it I'm going to have a hard time covering this with the Recon chest, it just looks so cool
I believe you're the first one to complete it. I've only finished the lower half of the front part of the torso. That is one purty-looking armor piece.Belakor said:Not sure if anyone else has posted photos a completed torso built from your file but just in case they haven't... Please Please Please!
Tell us your height and torso width!
Thanks!
P.S. And please... photo of the back side, can you?
Are you edited parts yourself disjoining faces or just printed some existing unfolded?

I've place my visor so it's back to your torso. BTW I built your first torso and was wondering if the scaling is the same?
Thanx as alway you #1 fan, DoC

Nice job on the helm, doc! Looks great!
And FS... how is anyone supposed to finish a full suit if we're just constantly building the new and improved FS helmets?
Looks awesome, I'll end up making it just to see if it's better than the last one of yours I made... and the one before that...
wow!thats was faster then expected. your the first so...Belakor said:

oh, you answered there, never mind. cant wait to see what the back realy looks like.Belakor said:Thanks
I used the first unfolded file by Ral Partha (the original A4 sized one)
I'm 5'11" and scaled it to a heigh of 41.5cm and, according to Pep Designer, the width is 38.8cm.
As soon as this last coat of resin dries I'll get some photos of the back and post them here
heh, yea, i know how you feel. no problem, glad you like em.Queen said:If I try building the armor from these files, I won't have ANY money this summer. o___o Looks snazzy, though. Thanks for uploading the files.

Greg said:I just got started on the torso and decided to start with the neck opening. Belakor, at your scale are you going to have to cut your head hole larger? It appears that my 4yr old daughter could barely get her head through the opening I've got right now. I used the unfolded letter-sized model and didn't change the scale (40.3cm high), as I am about the same size (5'-9"). There would be NO way I could get my head through the current opening. I don't consider myself to have a large cranium either (size 7 1/8). At the default scale, the width of the head opening is right about 11.5 cm from shoulder to shoulder and from front to back is 17.5cm. Does this correspond fairly closely to what you got, Belakor? I know you increased your size, but that won't have a HUGE impact on the head hole size.
wow! thanks!!! ya know, i might take you up on that.DoC ByTeS said:I cut the visor outlines with a vinyl cutter, if ya need one I have two version and I'm willing to send you a copy for free!
anyone else there not free...... BUT VERY CHEAP
I'm doing them as a favor to the 405ths out there!
(can resize to fit any size with measurements!
that slege hammer your now weilding after putting my ancles between two concreet blocks!!! :/ ide play it safe n try the size tester first. i know its a pain in the ass but it wouldnt be as big as the pain of doing the high detail one n find its wrong, nor would it be as painful as loosing your balance at the top of a short flight of stairs and then, in a desperate bit to stay upright, forcible inviting a small table complete with pot plant along for the ride. ...yes, it was an eventful weekend.Greg said:I just got started on the torso and decided to start with the neck opening. i could put the recon chest on the file if youd like, youd have to unfold the recon bit but atleast you know its exactly the right size for the chest. its looking amazing bdw!! im amazed you got it done in 2 or 3 days too! it took me that long to put my last helmet together... which then took 3 hours for the kittens to adopt it as a base of operations and then demolish it. im glad you split the chest, i tryed to model it so it would make that easier. keep up the good work and the supply of pics!! glad you like the cookie.Belakor said:Thanks surprisingly it didn't take as long as I initially thought it would, still took a good two or three days but it's totally worth it to get a base this detailed
I'm looking forward to seeing all these other FS torso's that are in progress or starting soon, I messed up some parts of mine so there's definitely room for improvement
Thanks for the cookie
The Recon chest isn't looking very good at the moment, this new base chest is a little wider than the one I started with so I'm going to try sectioning the Recon in an effort to make it slightly wider... if that doesn't work I'll just print a new one
Here's a couple of photos of the back, first one is right after resining and the second is after I've started to repair some of the deformed pieces with bondo... the cardstock I used was different to my normal stuff and I don't think it likes the resin as much
Yeah I ran in to the same problem and I don't think I could really open it up enough to get my head through the opening without butchering it so what I did was spilt it on the side and shoulder "strap" pieces so the chest is now two separate pieces... here's a few photos that might help explain that a little better:
For the moment I've hot-glued the two halves back together so they don't warp while I'm finishing the fiberglassing.
I'll add some strapping to it once I'm done so I can easily get it on and off and it should be easier to transport the two halves of the chest instead of one big piece
I just did a quick measure of the neck opening and mine is about 18cm front to back and 14cm side to side, I have opened it up a bit so it would sit better and not cut in to my neck when I'm wearing it.
im doin the same, equasions and big numbers tend to scare me a bit so i just measured myself and went from there. im the opisite thoe, i cant think in inches and the idea of fractions of an inch hurt my head.Skullcandy Girl said:The torso is still looking sooooooooooooooooo dope I'm printing mine out.
This may sound silly, the scale equations work, but I've never measured myself in cm for seperate pieces of anything. I wanted to make sure my scale was accurate so I measured myself with a sewing tape measure since it has inches and centimeters (I mean I dont think in centimeters in terms of scale XD). I even did my noggin height. It just gave me a much better idea and peace of mind that my helmets and armor won't be off by much. Just throwin that out there incase anyone else was worried about measurements
realy?! kewl!! well when you get time... can i haz pics?smilie120 said:Ok im going to try this lol.
