Finally an Update again!
So, since work and Christmas/New Year kept me busy for a while, I finally managed to get some work done again since it's less than a month here in Austria for Carneval.
I also decided that I'm fine with the armor not being 100% game accurate because 1st: I really don't have time for that. 2nd: All of the work is made from scratch, no templates or anything just some reference pics. 3rd: I like some parts that aren't exactly like the original ones in the game even better
So here is a small update pic of the armor:

Chest part or well that part that lays over the Abs still needs to be done aswell as the knee plates, lower thigh and boots ofc.

Here's a problem I'm facing atm. The clip holder just won't stay in place because the hot glue doesn't keep it in place, any suggestions how to fix this aswell as critics are welcome :)

2 layers of duct tape on the inside where you you want the buckle. put a few inches of webbing on that side of the buckle and sew it in. ive done that a few times and it works well.

I'll definitely try that, I roughed up the buckle with a file and glued it again, if this won't do it I'll go for your method, thanks :)

I used a LOT more hot glue. Several passes on top of each other, covering the whole buckle all around.

Also helps to glue the pieces to the foam while they're separated, so that there's no force pulling them apart while the glue cools.

its all looking sweet, and Kudos on the freehanded work done here. Its brilliant!

As for the buckles (the same as yours), I got some nylon strap and looped it through the buckles eyes.. That end I then glued down to the strap as it looped back over and then roughed up the part of the foam where the strap had to join the armour, the strap with the help of a good dollop of glue then stuck down and stayed down. By doing this you have a flying buckle. If you need a picture to help with that explanation then let me know :)

Hey there,
So I started yesterday since the foam I ordered finally arrived (it's pretty hard to get EVA foam here in austria so that was the only way)

translation: just told him where to get cheap foam mats

Btw. great work on the armor, doing everything from scratch isn't easy, well done.

Answering in english so everyone understands it :)

Thanks for the hint but I guess I won't need any more, maybe for further projects.
What's the size of these mats ? I bought mine on the internet and they're smaller than most of the mats I've seen (size is 31.5x31.5 centimetres) and I paid 6~€ for a pack containing 9 of them, so if size doesn't matter since you can glue them together but price does, I can send you the link of the seller on ebay, he's located in Germany :)

Small Update:

I started making the shoes + lower thigh.
I'll make this one piece as the base for it are cheap 12€ rubber boots and I'm actually really satisfied how they turn out
imag1196p.jpg

This one's just to show that they aren't oversized compared to the other parts
imag1197j.jpg

And a not so blurry one :)

There's just one question I got, I tried to hot glue the foam parts to the boot but it doesn't stick to the rubber so I fixed them with some nails, problem is they slip around here and there a bit, how did you guys fix your foam to the boots ?

I firstly made my boots to fit tightly to the wellington boot underneath, I made the toe and heel sections separate and added some elastic strap (under tension) to hold the two sections together. Then dumped a ton of glue in there and stuck the welly in. I made the part that goes across the front of the foot removable to allow the welly to be put in like this, then once stuck in I attached that front plate on with poppers so that they could move up and down as I walked.
does that make sense or would a demo help?

No worries. I won't be able to do it today but tomorrow ill make you a video demonstrating how I've done it and get it uploaded.

why are you gluing it directly? why dont you place a strip of velcro/belt in the buckle hoop and then glue the srtip/belt to the armor?

and great job so far man! keep it up ^^

Because I don't get that "boot on boot" look when I glue and attach it directly. Almost all shoes I've seen so far got that kind of look that there is just something lying on the top of the shoe (not easy to describe in english, I hope you know what I mean :p)

And thanks for the compliment :)

as promised i've made a video for you showing how to put together a pair of boots. just click the link and it'll take you to my youtube channel :)

Alright a little Update again. Raw suit is almost done, here and there are details to make but I really hate to do these parts haha :D
I also got bad news today, the helmet I ordered from Stony Props is held in a container in Vienna and the package will be processed either this week or next week or the week after, they can't tell :/
Makes me a bit nervous since Carneval is on February 12th.

Anyways, here are pics of the suit! (The abs body part thing is now attached to the rest of the chest piece, I originally thought about putting it on like a skirt so it gives me more flexibility but then decided to glue it on)

Yes I look small on these pics, dunno why, maybe camera angle :p

Aaaaaaand the back, as you can see there's still something to do :)
