Halo 4 Chief's Armor Foam Build (COMPLETED)

The reason people use plasti-dip is to seal foam, otherwise it looks so fake.

Tip to make it not crack: don't bend the foam! It's not meant to be bent...

HA! that was my second thought, maybe it wasn't meant to be bent this much, thanks for making this clear

Problem is, some parts are will be bent when putting the armor on, especially the back plates of the torso so i can slip in

Got the whole suit except the helmet plasti-dipped and painted today, gonna do the detail brushing with lighter green, silver and black today and tomorrow, I really love the outcome

These pics were taken right after painting so paint is still wet here and there

The torso was filled with old newspapers to fit on the wooden stick (that's what you see top and bottom right)

Especially loving the shoulder plate

i know this problem.
foam (eva) diretly colored with spraypaint (nitro) cracked without any tipe of primer and the surface was horrible...
foam sealed with PVA wood glue (not the liquid plastic for casting) seal the surface and is flexible. the result was a bending nitro painted surface which doesnt cracked.
plastidip is okay... and a thick surface does the same... seal and gives a flexible primer... but the paint is always the reason why the surface does crack. maybe the primer wasnt good for your choice of paint.
just my advise: seal your armor with PVA and try your paint again. otherwise you can use plastidip over the PVA as well.

Thanks for your advice harican, I only used plasti dip and spraypaint now, also put the whole torso which is almost the only part that will bend (back of it to slip in) on my body dummy so it was already stretched while i painted it, I'll see how this turns out but looks good till now

Almost done !

So this is not the original visor (will come in a few days) this one's just a clear visor sprayed with gold and not attached to the helmet just bent and put it in so it looks a bit sloppy but still I'm satisfied, starting the AR now

How'd it hold up?
I found on my foam suit it worked perfectly with no damage apart from one of the arm seals

Everything went fine except one buckle that hold up the right thigh got out of place but we went to the next florist and borrowed their hot glue gun so I could get back on track
