You don't need the Viewer. Pepakura Designer has all of its functionality.

correct because the designs are all 3D images and are unfolded and split into easy to cut out fold and glue together pieces so yes you need to have the program

first let me start by saying i just registered today but have been lurking around this site for about a month and am blown away by some of the stuff you guys can make out of paper. Second, i don't know how much I'm actually going to use this and don't always have access to a computer. i would like to get a file that's already unfolded just so i can try it out without having to download or install anything. is there a place i can find like a helmet for instance that i can just print and make, like a pdf or jpeg file?

I am not new to making armor, I have been messing arround with it for about a year now. But I am becoming more serious and am starting a build of 2 full recon armor builds for me and my buddy to wear to the halo 4 release. Seeing as though I am going to be at a release, I will be sitting down and moving a little bit. What pieces of the armor should be hard and which should be made out of foam?

Scaling an Assault Rifle

Hey all,

I am trying to make an Assault Rifle from the Assault_Rifle_by_Nugget PDO and I can tell before cutting the paper that it's the wrong size. Pepakura says the dimensions are as follows: h238 w68 d761. Just from looking at the bits on the paper, it looks like it will be about as long as my forearm. Is there an "appropriate" size for this? I'm trying to avoid going out and modding a Nerf gun...

Thanks!

You should judge the size not based on the "bits on the paper", but by the dimensions themselves. They are in millimeters, and in this case they indicate that the finished model will be about 9 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide, and 30 inches long. So unless you have really long arms, then the model's dimensions are correct as-is, and you can print it out and build it without further ado.

And anyway, even if the model was the incorrect size, the beauty of Pepakura Designer is that you can scale models up or down. So, if you are unhappy with the dimensions of this AR model, look up the real AR dimensions (Google or Halo Wiki) and use them to scale the model. However, as stated above, this should not be required for this model since the weapons are generally scaled correctly by the creator since they don't have to be adjusted to fit on a body.

Ok, I just finished cutting out everythng moments ago, but when I finished I realized what looked odd to me this whole time, there are no numbers!!! I don't have to time to cut it all out again, so is there an easier way of finishing this or is pepakura viewer my best bet? thanks

I suggest using pepakura viewer to just build the parts
I use this method also because even when i have the numbers on the pieces finding the other matching numbers can be hard so using viewer helps a lot. This method will save you a lot of time from just writing in the numbers or just guessing which piece goes with what

I've noticed that some of the files have red and blue folding lines. I really like this is there a setting in designer that can modify the dot line dot &dot dot to this colors? Or is it strictly up to the person who created the file?

The function you're looking for is called "Set Edge Colour", it's the symbol with the three pens.

hello,
i am working on my halo reach jun helmet. however i am getting problems at the start. i have a hat size of 7 1/2, and so in mm that is 597, HUGE! but i am having problems printing on the cardstock.

i have gone smaller to where its just basically half this so it will fit and then when i print it off my printer only prints it off in the corner and not the whole page. i am getting stressed and i cant seem to rotate the pieces. like i would in paint or or photoshop. i am a HUGE noob at this and any information would help.

i would suggest getting the pepakura designer that will allow you to make a helmet that actualy fits by moving certain pieces around and rotating them and stuff that designer is a real big help

That would be 60 cm circumference. The diameter of such a hat would only be about 20 cm. Get a ruler and measure your head to get the exact size.

Does anyone feel that it is important to get a measurement of the width? Or the length is good enough when it comes to sizing helmets? Also, is it possible to get the depth measurement? I would imagine that it would be the same for other pieces of body armor like the biceps and thighs.

is there a way to print only certain pages of a pepakura file?

Yes there is. Across the top of pepakura, there is a 2D Menu icon. Drop that down and select to show Page Number. When you proceed to the print process, select what pages you would like to print off. I hope that answers your question.
