Thanks for commenting on my post, those of you who did. I'd like to post my paper here, actually, as long as someone tells me the best way to post a few MB worth of text and pictures, post after post or...
I've always had an immense interest in physics, especially nuclear and astrophysics.

I am amused (and somewhat infuriated) by groups of people petitioning against the Hadron Collider experiment, it's just...ignorance, I think. Personally, I can't think of many other things that make me more thrilled than this experiment, I can't wait to see what findings will come up from it.

Like I said, organized extremist religious groups strike again. I literally had a Fundamentalist dude come up to my door not two minutes ago and ask if I would sign the petition to stop the LHC project. I told him he was stupid and that nothing bad was going to happen, and that if the world did end, then he would be welcome to come into my house and talk about it.

Nice reply, Blood! I'd say the same thing.

I guess mass e-mail would be good, but then again, I may as well attach it here.

He told me my sense of humor would send me to Hell. go figure.

Speaking of Hell, and science in general...

HELL EXPLAINED BY A CHEMISTRY STUDENT

The following is an actual question given on University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so 'profound', that the professor shared it with his colleagues via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

Bonus Question:
Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law
(gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being, which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.

Why are they doing this when they could be making a real life halo ring? LOL

ZOMG!!! hasnt joo herd, dats wat dar doin! its guna kill everyfing!!!

EDIT:
He told me my sense of humor would send me to Hell.
holy crap are you serious?! i wouldnt be able to stop my self from laughing at him.

The universe isn't infinite. At the edge of the universe, you'll run into a WALL. It'll be invisible and starless, but it'll be there.

really? where?
nevermind, links posted

out of curiosity, is the 'boson' delay thought to be the cause of inertia? or is it the thingy that stops my cup sliding through my table?

...and that's my limit. Right there. High school physics and any reading I've done does not cover boson delay.

ohh, so its not just me who wondered what the hell caused gravity and magnatism.

i think im guna turn my DS into a 'hitch hikers guide to the galixy' esk wikipedia storing device. its prity much the same with the variablilty of the autentisity and reliablity of the articles.

EDIT: wow, this is prity heavy stuff, im supprised im able to follow. then again, i probibly just think im folowing....

EDITEDIT: oh sorry, i didnt mean delay, i ment boson dealie, i think its irish slang.

Gravity is caused by Gravitons.

Magnetism is caused by magnetons.

y'know... one of these:

Not to specifically point out a flaw in your arguement, Odessa-086, but you stated that micro black wholes have been made before, while in your paper, you said that the LHC may be the first time.

Depends on how long ago the paper was writtten. Stuff could've happened in between then and now.

You're right, anonymous, at the time of writing that paper, I hadn't known they've been made before, it's only later that I stumbled upon an article somewhere online that said creation micro black holes has been attempted before, a lot of times unsuccessfully but a couple of attempts were successful, or at least semi-successful (I'm sorry, I can't remember where it was, I found it via Google News). The LHC experiment will be the first large-scale well-observed experiment, though. It's very exciting, I think. Oh, and by the way, the paper was finished sometime in April, I handed it in on May 9th, I think.

No doubt its exciting. I personally can't wait for this massive refrigerator magnet to be unleashed in its full glory. I guess we will just need Finnish_Spartan to keep us updated, after all hes the only highly active member that is close.
