Awesome pep job so far, it looks really clean on all the folds. Cant wait to see the whole suit finished. Great work so far.

Great work, I can't wait to see the finished suit. And OMG you pep so fast!!!! LOL I'll be rooting for you to finish in your time frame.

resin update

sooo I spent about an hour resining today, its not warm enough to have it dry for a second coat, so I will be doing that tomorrow.
this is just a quick update to all who are watching this build! :p

i thought I'd resin my Dutch helm also

You're doing great so far. I love the new bicep models, if I had time, I'd replace mine, but like you said, only 6 weeks. It's coming! Keep going!
yeah they are pretty good! but some scratch building on yours would add that extra detail.!

Cant wait to see more pics!! , right now i'm making Mk VI thighs, it's fun XD..
yeah pics are on the way! im going to be updating every step :D i like the mk vi thighs, detailed yet easy to pep!

pretty sweet i've never seen anyone start a kat build yet so this well be interesting to see how it will look finished, good luck with the build :)
thanks! yeah ive wanted to make a kat build for ages and seeing how no-one has started a thread i thought I'd start one!

Nice job Ace! I like Rhinoc's 320 helm....I'm still stuck on the visor!....I haven't made any progress since the 17th...other projects and working on Halo sigma.....Hope to see yours!
hey! thanks man, yeah i like rhinocs too, im still deciding on which to use though, as i want to be as accurate as i can to the in game model of kat. how is the helmet going by the way? i'd love to see what it looks like pepped :D
ah yeah ive seen your sigma around, how is it going?

Yay! You're thinking about movement! Movement is key to making armor comfortable. Will you be using craft foam as a replacement for the inner parts? if you seal it with layers of acrylic paint, it looks almost like rubber.
yeah after my mk vi i thought i should think about it more for kats suit, i want to be able to wear it for long periods at a time, as the launch is at least 4 - 5 hours long. the place im going is being held in a cinema so its going to be awesome!
yeah im actually going to be using parts from my old wetsuit, as its very rubber like and stretchy!

Barring that, you could always make your pieces from flex-foam. Nice going though! Nice to see another girl balance the ranks out a bit here. Hopefully my friend will join you gals soon. I'm the opposite end of that equation though, heh.
haha yeah more girls need to be making armour! haha at least this makes the girls stand out as there arnt very many of us here on this site!

Whoops! I'm so sorry!
At this rate, you'll be done in time for the big day!
-Pony
haha thats ok, the status next to our names used to show gender didnt it, would help if that was back!
and yeah im totally working super fast to get this done!

thanks kenster! well not long now and it will be done!

haha yeah i do pep fast, after making my mk vi its become really easy for me now! and without a craft robo!

wow, thanks for the update!!
your welcome!

thanks for the comments guys!

really nice work, and ive to say that you are really quick... 4 hours for the biceps and the shoulder... this is awesome.
i pep only one piece per day and it tooks 3 days for the helmet -.-

and thanks, ive learn from you that i should use a bar to dry my gauntlets. ;)
cant wait to see more from your work.

Oonsk?... double Oonsk!

haha im whipping out peps really quick, so here are the awesome shoulders modelled by agbates and unfolded by agbates.

and some concept art behind these guys, a rebel concept for Spartan-37 Halo:Sigma fanfilm :p

ahaha thanks!! nah it actually took me about 4 hours to pep half a forearm and shoulder, probably another hour for the handplate and rest of the forearm.

and using a bar is the best!! especially if you leave it in the sun with the wind. it blows all around the pieces and the bar makes sure they dont fall over and ruin the resin! i learnt that when i resined my cod piece and it fell over onto my grass.. i had grass stuck everywhere and had to sand it all back and the grass actually went solid! :D

Its awsome, i can't wait for more pics. I love female spartans :p
thanks! ahah with the rate im working at more pics will be up soon!

Well for the visor you are gonna be cursing at the parts and wish that super glue was super fast setting and holding the parts for several minutes and the tabs are tiny in the detail part of the visor and the parts don't want to go together....use paper clips and those grip thingies that wood makers use to hold parts of a project together(the name is lost to me...never mind just came to me....CLAMPS!)...CLAMPS!

the rest of the helm will go together just right!

I can't stress enough that to make this as with less warping as possible try to have no gaps in between curved pieces..and build in sections!

can't wait to see your 320 Rhinoc helm and hopefully yours will make me want to get back on mine!

help!!

updateeeee (sorry no pics this time.. :( )

i have a massive question..
im about to start on the awesome chest piece modelled by TheDigitalFix, unfolded (very very badly) by me.

but i really want to get the size right, im about 170cm tall
my mk vi chest was about 365mm width , height 379mm

im thinking that kat chest should be around the same width but that puts the height at 411mm, thats a full 30mm on top! seems perfect width but wayyy to long..
what do you guys think? :/

im quite confused, and dont want to ruin this chest piece..
unless TheDigitalFix could make a really really low def chest? as a tester.. that would be good.. haha :p
or maybe i could try with your permission TDF?!

comments and opinions much appreciated guys! :D

Tyvern! that sounds complicated...
i think i'll leave the helm untill last haha like i did with my chief suit :p

Haha, as soon as I saw those shoulder pieces, I immediately though about OONSK. :D
They look superb, like everything else. ;)

As for the Chest Armor, I believe the width is more important than the height or depth. If the Mk. VI armor fit with those width dimentions, I'd say go for 365mm.

Its kinda wierd how the chest is situated, so maybe check some of the legacy effects Kat armor pics.

I would reccommend (after you resin and hardened the pep), you use expanding foam to make the chest fit a little better and fill the backpack and that stuff. I will post pics later when Im done with mine.

ahah yeah i love the whole oonsk thing, its crazy! :D
yeah im thinking of going with it, i mean its no use to make it smaller in height only for it to not fit me around my width..

If you post up a link to the original file, I might be able to make you a quick tester.
really? that would be awesome!
here is the link http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/26156-Reach-for-the-ladies!/page2
thanks :)

yeah thats what i have been doing, i have so many screenshots from the video of her walking around as reference :p

yeah im actually looking into using foam as padding, then covering the exposed areas.. ive got the filling part all planned out, and i think you guys will be surprised!
but i will be good to see how you do yours though!
thanks

edit:
i got tagged by shrimps or whatever he is called.... D:< what an idiot..

Hey so I saw your post and did a quick and dirty tester. Lol I took out all of the details and left you with the overall shape.

Female Reach Tester
Based off TheDigitalFix's model.

This should be really easy to make. Also I put in some measuring strips for the inside width and the inside height. That way you might be able to see if it will fit without building a completely wrong size.

Oh and it still needs to be unfolded unfortunately I did have time for that but I hope it helps.

Kirrou!!
your a legend, thanks a bunch!
im looking forward to starting the chest now.. before i was all like 'ah urm.. eh.. what if i get it wrong..'
no worries about the not unfolded part, im starting to get better at it so i'll give it a go.

massive grin on my face right now...
:D

who's file did you use for the shoulder? rundown's fits around my shoulder, but its not tall like the game photos. Idk, maybes its just that i need more bicep muscles.....

update!

alright..
ive been pepping a bit at the minute, heres what ive done over the past couple of days, im working with such a short time its crazy..

cod modelled by TheDigitalFix and unfolded by HaloGoddess (you guys are awesome by the way, couldnt have done this build with out you)
thigh by SJSUSPARTAN unfolded by me..
i would totally upload my unfolded version for anyone who wants it but for some reason my computer wont let me create a 4shared account.. (plus someone with better skills could do a better job haha)
and shin by SJSUSPARTAN unfolded by me (again i would upload but cant for some reason :/
the shin is currently in my garage drying from the resin coats, so no shots of that.

sorry there are no shots of me actually testing the size, i couldnt take a pic and hold it up at the same time! but after making my mk vi cod, i scaled this up by 10mm width, and now it fits perfectly, and i reckon when i fit it to my belt it will be awesome! :D

now onto the chest tester!

the Kat build is coming out great can't wait to see it finished :)
thanks Road Kill! haha i cant wait to finish it!

this is coming along Nat!
thanks ! wait... youve been banned!?! 0_o

who's file did you use for the shoulder? rundown's fits around my shoulder, but its not tall like the game photos. Idk, maybes its just that i need more bicep muscles.....
hey i actually used the bicep modelled by TheDigitalFix and unfolded by HaloGoddess, its a female version, so its pretty good. very accurate to the live action kat that was a comic con!

Looking great, btw any advice on speeding up my work flow :)
thanks! haha well for me i pretty much watch movies whilst doing this! but then in my head i keep thinking ive got like what? 40 days untill reach is out..?? so ive gotta work fast! what are you working on? :p

more updates sooooon, keep watching !

Looking good. How do the gauntlets fit? After checking out HaloGoddess's threads I was thinking of adjusting some of the parts to fit the various 'figures' out there. Do they work okay for you too?
