small update
i'll let the pics speak for themselves again
ive added the reflective strips that kat has on the shoulder bell.. add on.. thingi.. :/ whatever its called haha
and a close up, you can see some of the paint detail also here
and now onto the boot cover i designed (and awesomly unfolded by carpathia!)
the unfolded size that i was going to use (130mm width) was way too small, so i went for 150mm width! check it out!
i know it doesnt come all the way across the shoe but i wanted to be able to bend my foot
for the shoulder add on: i sprayed it completely blue, then sprayed a different ripped up sponge with silver and dabbed that onto the areas where i think it would be chipped paint etc.. then! (theres more!) i sprayed the hammered charcoal onto another sponge and dabbed that onto areas where i thought it would be dirty or actually damaged.. then.. i sprayed a sponge blue and dabbed that back over the silver and charcoal to make it look like the blue had chipped to show the silver underneath
its lots of steps ahahah but i love how it turned out!
i tend to make lists of what needs to be done and then cross it off when its done, it gives me a sense of achievement haha and about feeling overwhelmed ... well ive started a project with only a month to finish it.. so yeah! i feel pretty overwhelmed right now.. but i have to finish it!

thanks!! arite basically.. for the handplates: i sprayed them completely silver, then used a hammered charcoal for the tips to create a texture, then sprayed the blue onto a sponge and dabbed it on to create a chipped look.Wheew, very nice work! I haven't checked in on this thread in quite a while, and I'm REALLY impressed with how much you've gotten done! If I might pick your brain a bit, I really like the way the silver is showing through on your pieces, what is your method for painting?

thanks! ive just gone and bought a silver visor, nicely shaped and i will dremel the lines in as kat just seems to have indents in the visor. easily done!Pretty rockin paint job so far. I may have to adopt some of your methods... haha
Any thoughts on a visor solution yet?
thanks for you help harican but i think i'll just stick to what ive got, they come out pretty decent and the paint shop knows me now and gives me free cans for refills!a good less shiny look gives the colors based on NC not acryl... they have a matt finish and looks really clean.
the montana brand is the best i think and its a german brand... the line is called "black"... the "gold" line based on acryl.
i dont really know if you can purchase montana black in australia but i think so. give it a try and the horison blue washed with some black paint looks nearly the same you choose.
btw: they costs less than 4€ in germany and we have high taxes
if you are intrested i could send you the colors you want in case you cant order it.
Thank you very much carpathia!!Here you go, AceNat.

hahahha oh i wish i had! i am trying to get it as close as possible (but without the black smudge marks ) and thanks!Did you take that shoulder piece from Legacy Effects? It's looks so much like it!!
Great work, girl! Keep it up!

Hey AvAngel! thank you so much, well my first project was my mk vi, and that was all HD! i really think you can do it, as long as your clever about constructing your own supports and making sure nothing warps by using cardboard, or anything really. as long as the piece keeps its shape during the resining stage you will be fine. yeah it is pretty complicated but if you pace yourself its easy really.AceNat, this is amazing. I have been reading through your thread since I signed up almost a week ago. I read an article about 405th.com in OXM's October issue and tada here I am. Anyways, I must say, you are a wizard with this stuff. I have ambitions to make my own set of armor someday... I just gotta figure out where to start. Do you think it'd be taking on too much to just jump into making myself some Kat armor? It seems like such a complicated process, and I'd be worried that after making the pieces they'd warp or not be to scale... how do you keep yourself from feeling overwhelmed? I haven't even started and I'm feeling that way lol
With respect,
-Angela

time is a pain! haha yeah ive taken next week off work also so i have more time to do this and thanks and your welcome!dang girl! more and more impressed everytime i check the progress. i cannot wait to see final product. fingers crossed you make it. i understand the time thing. i am taking 2 weeks off of work next week just to try and get done. thanks for the reply also. helped alot.. found the video you were telling me about i don't know how i missed that but thank you.
thats awesome! then most of the pieces should be the around the same right, the width of my chest was 345mm, but i reckon i should have gone another 10 mm bigger.. but so far its looking good and i should be able to fit into it! and thank you!well Acenat if my math isn't wrong we are the same height. Which make this easier.
Oh and by the way I'm totally in love with your paint job. all your pieces look so great, you have really done a fantastic job.
I'm also looking forward to your AR build.
So Excited!!!
ahahah thanks! but i cant say ive ever been good at chess..GOD I am so new and SOOO jealous of the talent in these pages. It's like high school chess club all over again.
meh
ahahahahhahaha so is this you taking the mick out of my face?!!?! extremely random..Ha ha
"crazy looking face..." You certainly have the look of a battle weary conscript that has been kidnapped as a child and superhumanly augmented to the point where sex drive is reduced and hyper-violent actions are fostered by a shadow government agency to stand in the face of an ever-present and unstoppable alien juggernaut all for the sake of the greater good.
On the bright side, you are part of an effort to stave off the extinction of all humankind...If you succeed that is. No pressure though.*run on sentences are fun*
Cheers!
thanks! i cant wait to finish itthis is just... phenomenal work!
