My first build - Halo 3 Master Chief

Sad that after another failed print it’s time to send one of 3D printers back to Amazon so I’ll be down to one for a bit until I figure out which to buy next. I want to get a large format but I really don’t see much use for it after this suit is complete, so I may just get another Ender 3 Pro.

But I’ve almost got an entire arm done and the forearm will be done when I wake up after this mid shift tonight.

Your skills with a printer truly show as this build is progressing! Do you plan on adding any padding on the underside of any of your prints to increase the bulky look of the armor? Could also of course help with your comfort within it as well!

I am also a total sucker for a good ammo counter, and I love how it looks on your BR!

Thanks, once you get the hang of it, it’s just print and wait lol. But the files from Moe are excellent.

Yes I’ll definitely be doing a bit of foam to pad things out, gotta get more pieces done to see how they all fit together.

Yeah I knew for sure I had to do an ammo counter to really give it that Halo feel and it came out pretty damn nicely!

Most of the forearm piece finished, not totally happy with the wrist part cut off to allow my hand through but I’ll wait to attach it properly with stretchrite before I decide to re-print it...

But wow I love printing with the part standing up as the most detail is on the Z-Axis. The piece looks incredible!

Got the last coat of base paint on and they’re looking pretty damn good. Still having trouble strapping them or even padding them enough to not have to strap at all. Hit me with all your previous methods for ideas please!

For my son's we ran a strap from one to the other with a parachute clip in the middle that runs across the upper back under the torso armor. That's how weta workshop does some of their pieces for movie armor. If it can keep them up on a 6 year old it should work well for you.

I tried that with a bit of elastic strap and it didn’t really do what I wanted it to. Where did you mount on each?

Yeah it was. Ours was made of foam though. But with the strap and some upholstery foam mounted inside to keep them firm to your arm you should be good. It is really hard to find good strapping tutorials though.

First print of Moe’s new v3 forearms with the piece already removed and printed separately to be able to fit your hand through. We went with that whole angled piece to keep from cutting along a flat face and drawing attention to the cut. This way it blends in and is thus hidden better.

Hard to believe but upper body is almost fully printed. 14 more hours I believe on the right forearm but I’ve started printing the front cod piece. Hopefully I make my mid October deadline for my kids Halloween birthday party!

I know angelegend did the same strapping on his suit and it worked well. For mine, it has enough padding to keep itself up with friction. I dont think this would work for you though since my doam shoulders are probably significantly lighter

Worked on the left forearm today. Came up with a method of getting the stretchright mounted so I can very easily get my hand in and out of it. Will put a final layer of paint in the morning and then hopefully the black detail work when I get home from work.27AEA794-AB04-4725-B269-779CA84D396E.jpegBF5426C4-AEFE-46C0-9B71-A65D6BBFA5C6.jpeg6AC50896-AB62-4019-B312-61C0692605FF.jpeg784CCBA7-6BFA-427F-A42B-292A406F9797.jpegD8D19FA4-E651-450E-B336-AB26682EE012.jpeg1C59811A-E017-49F9-AF35-D119F077B14D.jpeg26768B76-E6B1-4CC6-A117-DC876C0E6081.jpeg785958EF-AAB2-4D9D-A805-BE99531C9BFA.jpeg04B23A4B-2533-49D3-90EE-8DA8073D51F5.jpeg
