Looks great, I think what was meant was that the shin is backwards and the knee guard has to be on the other side. Turn the shin piece around and remove the knee guard and put on what is now the front. Should be an easy fix though.

That reference pic helped me make sense of the question lol. My head is gonna explode soon. Work stuff! Funny that.... im still at work :)

Looks great! I like what you've done with how the knee integrates nice and clean into the shin. Lookin' pretty solid!

Thanks! There is no wobble or crazy flexing of the foam when I walk so I think it will be pretty convincing as hard armor once it's all painted.

Belated congrats on the little one. I would have to say that the baby is the greatest creation of all.

Everything on your suit is looking great though. Sizing looks spot on and it turned out really clean. Keep up the good work.

Yeah he's a little miracle considering the doctors told my wife all her life that there is no way she could ever get pregnant without extensive (and expensive!) fertility treatments.
I will most likely add a few pieces of detail foam before I craft foam the shins to help balance out the size a little more.

Looking good, but ya got the shins on backwards. Lol!

Who will be a noob forever? *points to self* This guy. This guy right here. At this point I am too committed to the shins being the way they are. I think I can correct the mistake with a few added pieces of foam and some well executed craft foam applications. If I switch them now then there is no way that the front of the shins will cover everything properly. Oh well...live and learn right?

Dude I totally thought the shins went on that way too. Ha ha apparently they don't.

They are deceptive! If I wear them the other way they won't cover the way they should so I'm just gonna go with it.

With the amount of hot glue on the back of those pieces it would mangle them to remove everything and switch it around. Oh well. I think it will work once I finish them up.

Go home and build armor! You have my permission to take the rest of the week off. Tell your boss that Ghost said so...

Update time!

I started the bondo process on the helmet. I'm going to try to take tons of pics and detail the entire process so that other first time bondoers can learn from my mistakes.

Here's 2 scoops of bondo laid out on a paper plate, ready for the hardener. I went with 2 scoops to start because that was the amount that was stuck to the lid. Hehe. Because of the limited working time of the bondo, I figured I'd divide up the total amount and only add hardener to the 2nd scoop once the first was all used up.

This was what I was able to cover with the first scoop.

And this was all I was able to coat with both scoops.

This was what I was able to get covered tonight with a total of 4 separate applications of bondo.

I have to give a digital high five to Cereal Kill3r and his amazing tutorial on bondo. The man is a bondo artist, plain and simple. I used his technique of taking a razor blade to the bondo while it was still curing and in that rubbery stage. Worked like a charm. To anyone viewing this thread, if you havent seen his tutorials and are planning on using rondo/bondo on your pep project, go there now and soak in all the awesomeness. You won't regret it.

More to come soon! Thanks for looking!

Looking good, look forward to seeing the progress, and how you fix your shins. Remember...not the mistakes you make but how you correct that makes you skilled.;)

I gotta agree with Mike on this one! Looks great so far. I learned working on my old muscle car a little bondo goes a long way ;) keep it light and it'll come out nice and smooth.

Also, you should check out Sara's Red vs Blue WIP They're doing amazing bondo work over there if you want some tips/tricks or just good ol' inspiration. I'm a foam man myself but I'm enjoying that build

great looking helmet man, keep up the good work

May i ask what is that bag that says 5 something ultra steel bin 203mm??? always wanted to buy that but forgot the name of it. I dont suppouse they sell this itesm in home depot??? i mean youst those thing because i have the bondo , sand block , sand paper, spatulas, razor blades and bondo. Whats the wire brush for???
Thanks!

Tankyavermuch! And I'm sometimes shocked at how fast this build is going.

I still have to build the hand plates, knees and lower spine protection with eva. Then I have to sew up an under suit, complete the helmet, paint and light everything and possibly rebuild the chest. The knees are next.

Lol! We'll see!

Thanks bro!

Hehe. Well right now he only eats, sleeps and makes dirty diapers so I get a little time here and there.

Small update.

I bought a bunch of stuff to finish the helmet.

I hope to get some bonds on there today.

Thats a set of files. You can pick up a multi set of files at nearly any big box store. I got these at Walmart. I also picked up a set of needle files. The wire brush is for cleaning the files.

Update time!!!

I finished the shins up. I think I may have managed to disguise the reversal a little. What do you guys think?

And just because I got excited about having both legs and feet completed, I decided to post this as well.

I hope to get more detail work on the arms, bracers, and one of the shoulders tomorrow. I might have time to get the spine done as well. We'll see!

Thanks for looking!

I looks fantastic, but I'm so used to seeing the shins the other way. It kinda looks like the "front" is slanting in and pressing against your leg. I'm used to seeing the shin stick out a little, but none the less, it looks cool. Keep up the good work.

I think they look very good. I am tentative to start to play with foam. I may use it to build some parts of my armor but ik how well it will turn out. You make it look so easy!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Wow, that looks great! I can't wait to see some pics of you wearing the full suit! But, just to let you know, the shins are still backwards ;)

Yeah, I know. I have pretty much decided that this is the way they are going to stay. I might re-build the shins at a later date, but right now I am just going to have to get used to saying "Yes, I know they are backwards."

Actually, the shins almost look BETTER backwards!

Btw, I sort of noticed this and I've been wondering... Why aren't you infantryman yet? You're past 100 posts, heck you're past 150! Has something changed in the rules? Just been wondering...
