Is C4D really that good?
When it comes to modeling, it's all the same, you just have to learn the interface. That's why I haven't used Maya I can't remember any of the interface and I got so fast with modeling with Max, and I used it constantly for 4 years.
Maya, max, lightwave and Softimage are the most commonly used in the gaming industry. C4D has a small following in the US, and it is a good program, it just hasn't gained momentum yet. And studios all use different programs. Maya is the most common in the Film industry.
Keep up the good work Just don't over work your self. Hate for you to become a zombie
Don't worry about how long it takes, good things come to all who wait
Depends on what you want, its first and foremost a straight polygon modeling program, so its a bit different than most surface (nurbs) modelers like max and maya. C4D is gaining popularity slowly, its been used in a lot of big movies lately, Spiderman3, all the Sony kids CG movies (Surfs Up, Open Season Etc) Golden Compass all use it in some form or another (body paint is getting pretty big i hear). As far as the big movie stuff goes, it really dosnt matter, with a team of pros and multi million dollar budget you can accomplish anything regardless of the package. I have to learn Maya again now
Great work Skullcandy Girl! I really need to get back into the 3D world. It has been way too long.
As for Rhino it is a great Nurbs modeler and for me it is a lot easier as the command set is quite similar to AutoCAD. Highly recommended program.
WarHead9705,
You should look into getting a student version of Rhino 3D, very reasonably priced at $195 vs. $1000 for the commerical version. The student version is a full up version with no limitations. Plus you get support and updates.
@ Wizard: Well if your CAD drawings are a peek at your skillz then I think we'd all pee our pats with what you come up with
I had a lot of Freelance 3D and motion graphics projects move through last week so I had to put the ODST corrections on the back burner. I will post the updated pics once they are complete so these can be moved of to the final stage(s).
I've been in the corner the whole time watching you like ceiling cat. hahaha.
I was doing some digging around and saw at the local army surplus store a few things that might give inspiration and possibly substitute for pep. (for other people) But so. . . far. . . . *drools* Oh- OH, um hi. . . lookin' good. *makes Christmas list*
Patience... when it is done, all will be happy.
The WETA ODST is faaaaaar more complicated than it looks.
Besides, she's pretty good with the updates when there are updates, isn't she? Yes.
In the meantime.... build a Halo2 set, I heard there's new files up.
Please patience as Ruze has said. My schedule consists of doing an independent feature film, a day job, and a relationship, and I manage to squeeze in 3D and my Halo armor.
You will know when I know, k I do appreciate the enthusiam of course
