This is my halo 4 forearm. Not the best but it works.

Todays progress, started work on the torso.

I did 2 practice forearms and a shoulder just to get the methods understood, and now i'm working the complete torso. I'm realizing more and more that I dont have to use the templates 100 percent becuse with foam I can round things out a lot more and add detail later with thinner foam. Tomorrow I hope to complete just the back of the torso so I can wear it and make sure its the right size.

Today's progress. Well I'm outta foam, gonna head down to Home Depot tomorrow and buy some more. I think the torso might be a little small for my size, but I can always bulk it up more with thinner foam, which I plan on using to detail.

Check out "Foam Technique Tutorial" part 1 & 2 on YouTube. I found them really helpful and insightful. Of course I am doing the paper craft method so I don't know a lot on the subject of foam.

So after taking a break for a couple weeks I'm jumping back into it. I bought some new foam, got a hot knife, and am restarting from the ground up. Managed to almost finish the boots tonight, and thought I'd post this one showing how much the thinner craft foam helps. Tomorrow I start on the shins.

Still looking for a Halo 4 thigh files for foam. If anyone knows of any let me know.

Yesterday I was able to finish one of the shins, but I'm really not happy with the shape. The files I'm using dont seem to work that well with foam so I might try to just freehand the shins. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks for the file :)

How are you doing with the hot knife? Is it a real improvement to a cold knife? I just ordered a hot knife yesterday. :) The boots look really awesome! That layer of thin foam is a real improvement to the whole piece. You can hide almost any unclean edges, glue overflow etc. I'm glad i just bought several 1mm foam sheets, know I know for sure I will use them. :) What file did you use?

Again, what file did you use? ^^ Any pics of this shin? If it was my foam unfold, I'm sorry, it was one of my early unfolds, I will do anything to improve it. You may want to take a look at Rhinoc's shin He also posted pictures of his finished shins in his thread.

The hotknife is a huge improvement! Cuts are so much easier and cleaner. The only downside is that you have to cut pretty quickly so it doesnt burn the foam. Other than that I love it.

And as for the shins, I think I just got the files from the foam database, not sure whos they were. I was actually going to try your shin file next ha .
