SPARTAN Chance-085 was inducted in the Spartan-II Program at the age of 5, though he first struggled with weight and the physical demand of the Spartan program, his superiors saw his true potential. Chance-085 was an experiment, being the thinnest and shorted of all the Spartan cadets. ONI chose him to test the true potential of the Spartan augmentation. The Spartan showed an unbreakable will to never give up and always worked to overcome all obstacles in his path. This helped him live through his augmentation and gave him a major advantage over all other Spartans. Chance-085 was assigned to Red Team upon the end of his training, then being promoted to Leader of the Team in 2527. During his time as Team Leader, Red Team was tasked with leading assaults which where specifically designed to breach enemy front lines. Due to his resourcefulness and ability to adapt and overcome all obstacles Chance-085 has become an extremely valued asset to ONI. In 2531 Red Team Leadership was handed over to Jerome-092 as Chance-085 was transferred to ONI Special Operations; missions which remain CLASSIFIED. Being put in in Cryogenic Sleep when not in use, only to be awakened when needed, Chance-085 appears to remain ageless over the decades and is far younger in comparison of his fellow Spartan-IIs. Still active as of 2553, he still shows the emblems of Red Team as well as his Spartan Identification though frequently upgrading armor. Chance-085 can adapt to any weapon system though his preferred choice is between the Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, and Sniper Rifle though he is typically seen with a different combination of weapon systems to adapt to his current mission.

"To Whom It May Concern,
Frankly, I don't know why I should have to write this. Despite numerous evaluations and countless reports from other staff in the Psychology Department, UNSC Medical Corps, Warrant Officer Two Brandon Burns remains on Active duty. I am perplexed, as this is a willful and concerted effort to preempt my authority. According to UNSC Fitness Requirements, with reference to Chapter 23, Article 4, Section 11, Paragraph 9, Line 44, and I quote: "...and any individuals demonstrating such behavior deemed to be self-destructive in either a physical, emotional, or mental capacity should be evaluated and cleared for continued service by appointed UNSC Medical Corps staff." Section 11, Paragraph 20, Line 6 also denotes the individual's responsibility for not causing harm to other personnel, Physical, Mental, or Emotional. This, alone, should be enough to demonstrate his lack of fitness for duty! The incident with members of the now ubiquitous SPARTAN IV detachment, while completely one-sided, was highly destructive to CW2 Burns' hands and his right leg. After 2 weeks of accelerated bone repair, his injuries are healed, but I believe (despite his insistence) that he is psychologically damaged to the point of complete psychological break. He remains apathetic to my ministrations, and insists that he could have caused injury to the other personnel (SPARTAN IVs) involved.
I believe that he is dealing with the loss of his former ODST squadmates to the SPARTAN IV program terribly, and because of this loss, the damage psychologically has taken an irreparable toll. When asked how he felt about their transfer, he said that they were "dead to him". When asked why he didn't want to join them, he was vulgar and denigrating to the personnel. Excerpt: "What, are they going to make me a foot taller and suddenly everything is all better? **** them and their stupid suits; ODSTs can rumble and tumble anywhere, anytime, and without a billion credit suit covering our ****s."
I approached his former ODST instructors for input regarding his behavior. First Sargent Kellerman, Earth, formerly of Reach, confirmed my assessment of Burns' ego and psyche. Burns had finished his training while almost completely paralyzed by Training Rounds. This wasn't an unusual occurrence, but the training exercise had been over for 2 days. Despite the exercise being deemed impossible to complete(the participation being the only requirement for graduation), Burns eluded training personnel and ignored comms requiring him to report to the Landing Zone due to the completion of the op. He had also dragged his disabled squadmate (who reportedly objected the entire time) to the summit with him, where he was ultimately commended and temporarily arrested for kidnapping. Kellerman said, "He was one stupid son-of-a-*****, but he was a special kind of stupid sons-of-a-******s."
I believe that his pattern of behavior confirms my assessment of his fitness for duty, and I must insist that a response to this assessment be filed in his service record. This, being the third such recommendation that I've sent to the staff at ONI Section III, makes me feel as if my letters are falling on deaf ears as Warrant Officer Two Brandon Burns remains on active classified assignment.

Was originally part of the 405th mountain division but was transferred into the 460th suborbital bomb group due to an acute knack for flight and a certain, strange love for strategic bombings. Served on the front lines for several years and has a preferred weapon choice of a magnum and shotgun. Survived the destruction of reach due to piloting a Sabre at the time and defending any UNSC ships in combat with invading covenant corvettes. Prefers Parafoil chest-plate, CQC right shoulder, Jump Jet left shoulder, UA/HUL[3] Recon helmet variant, and FJ Para knee plates. Orange and Green color scheme.
