I meant to start the shins literally two full weeks ago, but I've been so down with life and college and film I haven't really started it until today. After three sizing attempts, I finally settled on one, and I'll be building as much as I can this weekend now that I have energy again. I don't have any good looking progress to show just yet, but in the meantime please enjoy these images I took this morning.

I rebuilt both of the bicep pieces because they were too small, and took some photos of the suit pre paint. If anyone has any feedback please give it now because the next step is filling and painting. I'm definitely feeling the pressure now because I'm 14 days behind schedule, and if I don't make it for Halloween then itll feel like a waste of the last 5 months.

Color of the helmet looks great! Ah, the classic con crunch. Going to an event or you aiming for Halloween?

Good luck, you got this!
Just Halloween and some family stuff this weekend, but maybe some stuff after. The paint color was really hard to decide so I'm glad you like it. If I do go to any events I'll ofc post it

I can't believe this good this looks, I never would've thought this would look as real as it does right now. I'm extremely happy with my progress so far, especially compared to my first Master Chief suit (I followed Angellegends video series with less experience and worse material). I most likely will not make an undersuit in time for Halloween unfortunately, but this good enough for me for now and I'll probably build one before next year.

That looks fantastic!!! Your color and everything you just nailed it. I must ask how heavy is your armor in the end?

Sorry anyone following this for the delay. Halloween was already 9 days ago and I still haven't finished th...Read More

Just kidding, I finished it with a couple days to spare (other than the undersuit) and I have a ton of pictures (one of them Evan Boymel, the voice actor of Viper from Titanfall, reposted to Twitter). My brother and I took turns wearing around at a Halloween event in the weekend before, and both Monday and of course Tuesday on Halloween. At one point at our college there was a group of elementary aged kids who were staring as the teacher tried to keep their attention lol. Probably 50 people over those three days asked for pictures, several 20-something guys said it "brought them back", and also some little kids were scared of it.

thanks
the color was Behr Premium Interior Classic Avocado. I know nobody uses house paints ever but two samples worked pretty well. I don't know how much it weights but I never noticed it being heavy at all and it doesn't hinder your movement too much either.

Your build look fantastic! Great job on finishing it. The paint colors look really good.

Have you thought about possibly dry brushing some silver paint chips on the edges of the armor?

Also, you'd be surprised at how many people here use just normal house paints.

I tried dry brushing, which I usually do do on my stuff, but it didn't look as good as usual for whatever reason so I just did a blackwash instead

Well it looks fantastic! Great job on the build.

I built a PVC armor stand following Kurt Ramsey's build at Simple armor stand (PVC tubes) and now I have a large humanoid figure in the corner of my room at night. looks pretty cool though

That’s sweet! It totally makes me want to build a stand now
you definitely should! however
this was I think significantly more expensive to buy than a similarly sized mannequin would've been. 1in PVC would have been a lot cheaper but the 1.25in PVC I used was like literally 100 dollars for 20 ft and all the connections

Oh my goodness you put it in front of a mirror too! I can't imagine falling asleep and forgetting about the statue, and then waking up to 2 giant armoured Spartans standing over my bed XD

It does look really sick though man!
