Hughs Odst Build

Hey Hugh, I've been using some of your file for my build and was wondering if you have an unexploded version of helmet v1? I've built some of your other exploded parts and just thought it would be easier to build the helmet if it wasn't exploded. And for those that suggest building the v2 I have seen it, but I like the detail in the v1 and the challenge of building something that complex.
If it helps I can unfold it myself. Either way, whether you do or don't Hugh, 7hank you very much for your kick ass files you have already supplied me and everyone else in the community.
-Squish :)

I sent you a PM

and thanks Breci! Be sure to post pics of it!

All I can say this thread and files are awesome Hugh :) I´am building an ODST too and i will be really happy if you can model this chest pouch .

And thanks for the awesome ODST files :D

I'm taking a crack at the base file myself right now. I personally don't find it too bad at all - MUCH easier to work in modules than in a single, solid file. I'll post images in my own dedicated topic and link you if I'm satisfied with the results.

yo hugh the dutch add on is scaled right i know it might be im double checking cause im weird like that but dude this thread is the best thing on here scince i been on top dawg im building my suit and the files are awsome dude love them

Stuff

edit: got it working. You can find the pouch here:

Thanks for the link Matt! I don't mind modeling a high res version if you don't want to work with the game models that are out there.

Good to hear Recon, I hope you decide to start a progress thread!

Thanks Knight,

I did reply to your question on your profile wall but in case anyone else reading wanted to know: Yes, all of the helmet addons and upgrades are at the same scale as the helmet by default. You can import the attachment pdo files into the helmet V2 file and they will pop up in the proper place. You can then scale the parts together.

Alright lets see if this image wants to work correctly...

I got some work done on the helmet today. Decided to post some pics while the lighting was decent. I had to rework some of the visor area because I got careless on the protective coating. But I'm pretty happy with it now.

Hopefully next week I'll be getting the casting materials so I can get this thing finished.

That's because the two files are created with differently-scaled meshes. You'd need to scale the two parts to each other together in modelling software.

New Year

Happy new year everybody!

Just wanted to note that today is a great day. The company I work for informed me that the DoD has officially determined (after five months) that I am not a threat to national security, whew.

Man, it's been like a roller coaster with this stuff since before the holidays. At least it's over now and I can start planning ahead for my girlfriend and I.

Worrying about your career really makes projects like this difficult to finish.

Otherwise, no updates on the build. I will definitely be getting the casting materials for the helmet next week. Unfortunately, with the rest of the kit (vents and such) those will have to wait until it's warm enough to properly resin. I want to include those parts so you can attach them after painting.

But since I like to include something worth showing in my updates:

While at the future in-law's I spent some time starting my next project. Working with 1 clear view isn't much fun...

Happy New Years to everyone! Hope 2011 will be awesome! Nice job on the helmet Hugh! Are you finished with it or are you continuing to work on the details still? Best of luck to you!
