Kahn's Carter Build (Renamed)

It's awesome to look through your post and see the evolution of your armor. What color(s) did you use to achieve the metalic blue base color? I'm shopping this weekend for spray paint and so far what I've used has made my test pieces look like a crayon rather than armor.
The blue paint is rustoleum metallic blue

Perfect, that's what I have sitting in my amazon cart, but I had wanted to test it before buying multiple cans of it.
You have to do a couple layers and the shinyness of it does diminish once it dries, you will probably be surprised at how sparkly it is when you first apply it, it doesn't stay that sparkly.

Frosty is the prophet for that rustoleum metallic blue like Ranger is for Shoe Goo. Same I used for a recent prop.

So i had my first issue of im sure many, the under suit (Halo Cosplay Armor Shoulder Gasket 3D File | 3D model) link here, went too far into my stomach, so i had to cut off the tips on the under part, it's not even part of the suit that's visible, but it was an issue, another issue im worried about is arm movement, might just have to limit myself. i cut away part of the torso side pieces so they will fit better with the hard rubber of the undersuit.

my next step is resizing my belt in armor smith so there arnt gaps, should be easy enough.

I was testing how to get the shins to stay on, and i just shoved some foam i usually use for padding helmets in and it just kinda worked to ill just be shoving 2 pieces of foam into the shin for stability until it stops working, i reprinted the belt the correct size so there are no longer gaps, just need to finish the pieces. The boots fit my old boot covers pretty well, might try it at a convention and see how it works before i reprint them in tpu. i should get the visor done mid june, hoping to get it back before washington summercon. i need to find a new way to attach the ankle cover thing on the boot, the Velcro isn't strong enough with how the shin sits now. im just writing my thoughts here because in the past i've neglected this thread and i want everything, on the record. maybe someone will benefit from seeing my thought process.

I like what you did with the TPU, I mean I guess you cant really sand it anyway, but doing layers of different materials to eventually get a smoothed out, or textured surface is sick.

You should be proud of yourself man! Going from EVA foam to 3d printing can be a slight learning curve. I'm in the same boat as you atm and so far all your pieces look AMAZING you wouldn't think it was your first time! Cant wait to see more my friend... Keep going Spartan :) Kahn 319

to be fair my first iteration of the suit looked pretty bad in my opinion, from mark1 to now(mark2.3) most, if not all things have been re made. ive also tested some methods on other costumes ive made inbetween me working on this suit.

Learning more, especially from previously failures it what makes better armor! Even though I'm new I'm sure a lot of people can agree. Keep testing and keep learning! Look forward to seeing how it all turns out spartan :) Kahn 319

I have acquired a few various molds, and recently got my printer set up and started printing my own pieces using the models from NerdForgeDesigns, and some from the Free model index on this site. The Helmet I purchased from JohnsonArmsProps, (i had made 3 helmets out of foam and was not really happy with any of them) and its fantastic, the gauntlets are also a mold I cant remember who I bought them from. I outsourced the chest piece and back piece because I am using a Ender 3 pro, so I do not have a large print area and I am extremely new to 3d printing so I sent it to 3DPrintCustomz (which cost more than I thought it would) but everything else I am printing, if I do not finish it in time for the con I can substitute my foam pieces that I made in the past which are not bad, but this is going to be better. I am going for a Noble 1 kind of build, its not going to be exact but it will be close. if anyone has tips or anything I would be excited to hear about it. I will be posting updates in this thread as I print new pieces View attachment 318168and start assembling. Lastly if anyone can identify the paint on the helmet I would really appreciate it. (Printing in PETG)
Looking amazing, also curious about the color scheme, like are you going to go with the helmet or are you going with different colors afterwards?

im matching the helmet colors, as you can see in the pictures, it's not a true recreation of carter cause this blue is better than the original and the location of the colors is slightly different. i still have the symbols and the stripes in the right places but the blue and the gray are different than the actual carter suit. however i have changed the visor to gold and removed the hex pattern, i just haven't posted that yet. this is my main suit which is why i revisit it every so often. odst are cool but spartans are more cool.

Completely understandable, It looks absolutely incredible. How did you get your visor done? or was it apart of the helmet order?

visor was part of the helmet, but aside from the hex pattern i can, and have (for other costumes) recreated everything visor wise, i bought a vacuum form table off etsy and use petg sheets, then poly dye for the color and an airbrush with mirror chrome for the mirror finish. but as i said earlier, i want maximum visibility so im sending my current project visor off to branfur studios for a hydro chrome because visibility is better on those and the chrome won't rub off. i dont have the capabilities to hydrochrome, i will be moving at the beginning of next year and hope to buy property with a shop so i can expand my current scope of abilities, right now im limited by space only.

That sounds awesome I would love to see your shop wherever it's going to be

Did a test wear at a small event, had almost no movement but i've fixed that, i think, i redid the electronics in the helmet so i now have hearing assist, the height boosts worked, they did hurt my feet a bit but, they worked, the shins being held in place by the foam inserts also worked, the only thing i'm still waiting on to finish is the new visor, here is a picture of before i cut off a little of the chest gasket so i could move my arms more freely, i will have more pictures for yall after summer con which is in about 2 weeks.
