are you being sarcastic?? the reason i ask is becuase of your statement and LOL face.

i like to show HOW i made something. not just the finished prop. i learn from watching others build threads and like to share ways i have learned to do things. the world does not stop and start with pep files. there are so many things you can sculpt with. pep files are just another tool not the end all, be all.

This is looking at being probably one of the best odst on the forums, i only hope that mine turns out a fraction as good as yours. Those pouches truly are amazing, did you use clay for the detail sections on them?

I'll be watching this closely for inspiration for my odst, keep it up.

welsh

thanks , i used floral foam. then i covered them in what is called monk's cloth. real thick weave to it. then a thicker forsale sign plastic and made the parts that go on top. i plan to do the same with beltbuckle.

when i vac form thses parts i will use a thin plastic so the monks cloth weave will show up in the molded piece.

on the hip plate i used .125 hips plastic, cut out the pattern then used a heatgun to bend it into shape. i am going to come back on that with bondo to smooth out edges and stuff.

Looking great!!

Question: The side "pouches" (left and right of center, below the chest piece) What material did you use for the details? (the Vertical pieces and the sides)

Keep up the good work!!

i used a plastic forsale sign for the detail bits. and the cloth is called monks cloth.

I colored what I guess I'm asking for. The vertical parts doesn't look like a "For Sale" sign.

Just wanting to know more. Thanks MB!

Red: The strap

Blue: The thing that holds the strap on

the ones in red are a forsale sign cut up into strips then glued to a bigger strip. then i stacked them on another strip to get the thickness. i took a heat gun to bend the strips once they were together. the ones in blue are too, just took a heat gun to bend them into shape,

on the buckle those pieces are amde from a thick illistration board. that i plan to work on with bondo. the center stomach part is made of the art board too.

hope that helps.

here is the guanlet like i am wearing it. do you think they are to big?? now bare in mind i do not have the rest of the armor on which would make me bigger. but i think i am going to cut them down some. from the front they look ok, but from the sides i think they are too big.
