New Foam Build

You could build the tactical soft case out of foam, and have the lid move, and use the little 3 prong buckles on the sides.

I like the idea, but im strongly for detail and it looks a lot like fabric. and which fabric can fit more than a solid piece of foam. and just overall looks cooler

Sorry for the crappy picture, I will get a better one on here soon, along with pictures of my shin with the new Grenadier knees provided by Iganderson. Painting should be occurring this weekend. Boots will be built soon as well as handplates and a neck seal, and then Ill see what else i can do. possibly more detailing. also mounting shotgun shells this weekend to the chest. anything im forgetting other than the soft case utility and undersuit?

Very nice foam build. Definitely one of the best I've seen. I've thought of using foam but cannot imagine it to hold up after a day of wear. My sons' costumes (made with resin and fiberglass) lasted almost 3 days last year. They moved quite a bit and I was surprised that they were able to wore them for the 3rd day. A foam suit will probably disintegrate on the 2nd day.

oh no. the stuff is exceptionally strong. much more flexible and when you hot glue the stuff together, its like concrete. also, i layer the crap out it.
I wear it a lot... running around the campus, and ramming football players into walls

We build armor for some of our role players in our paintball games. They run, roll, get hit, fall down, etc.....and they armor has lasted over 4 24 hour games of paintball. Make it right, it will last.

sorry that it took so long, ive been having troubles with the drivers on my lap top, so here is some stuff painted, just need to paint the rest of the equipment and spray everything with a drizzle of black for a nice darker look

Man honestly, those thigh pieces look really good! Most detailed foam ones I've seen I think, great work on everything so far! Get that undersuit on and take a pic!

well ill be editing the center piece of the thigh since, thanks to forgedreclaimer, i have a 3-dimensional perspective so now i can edit it with more detail
and just finished putting together the shotgun shell chest attachment, now i just need to touch up on painting the chest (and at least finish painting it) then glue that part on, and i hope to either start on the boots or gungnir helmet... and strap the lower half of the armor together

Dude this is some pretty awesome foam work, i think i may dump pep for everything but the head and shoulders and do it in foam after ive seen this =O

i have a question about scaling the emile shoulder. relative to the bicep, what is the scale? it seems like 1:2 from what i can see

great job on this too! looks great

after experience, I would still make the shoulders out of foam just as a bit of insight. i thought of the same thing at first until my shoulder plates and biceps started to break. plus, they come out to be a whole lot stronger if you layer them and pretty gosh darn hard. ive actually been able to smash things with my security shoulder without any physical damage.

all i do with my pep scaling, is take a reference picture of the piece vs the spartan, and just measure the length vs my body. youre better off taking that approach

Hey D,

Everything is lookin just absolutely fantastic! Could you show a little bit more on how you Layered to Reinforse?
I Just want to see how you're doin this, MY suits goin to go through alot. And can we get more pics of that Fabulous Spine Protector?

No problem with the spine piece, just let me attempt to apply more detail. now about the layering, difficult to show on the chest piece but i just piled up stacks from the back and front until they hit a uniform balance on my body to create a perfect symmetry of reference towards the actual placement according to the game. i.e. flesh with my back but still pushes against me in both directions. after that short ramble, its kinda difficult to show because i created a piece that covers up everything and its quite difficult to put back on, ill take pictures and show you in a bit.

Like foam spacers? Thats what I'm doing on my shins to keep them from moving around so much.
