Well for sizing you need pepakura designer that's the only way to re-size. If you have designer the re-size is in the 2d menu. Also watch the file the one I had was mapped for landscape and I had to turn it to portrait to get it to print right.

Ok a little update, I have the larger helm all pepped out and ready for rondo.

Hey it's James (obviously) I have been making my own helmet. I have figured out how to resize it but I kinda forgot where the button is and I don't know how big to make it, kuz it's all metric-ey. And I'm also not going to wear this helmet. I'm probably going to go so far as to resin it, then spray paint it. Yaaaaaayyy.... *sigh* and then put it on my shelf..... Ok so.. err.. Well the new one looks even awesomer. I don't know if that's possible.... but it does.... =] Smiley

Go to 2d pattern screen then change scale on the list

Hey everyone, I've noticed that there are alot of questions about sizing your helmets and whats a good way to do it. So here is the method I used, now it may sound silly but you'll need a pencil, hand held mirror and a wall. I stand with my back and head flat against the wall. I put the pencil on my ear(like we all did in wood shop) and using the mirror straighten the pencil and put a mark on the wall. DO NOT MOVE YOUR HEAD! Now place the pencil on the other ear and do the same. Now you can move. Measure between the two marks and that's how wide your pumpkin is. I add an inch to an inch and a half to both sides when scaling(sometimes that's not even enough) depending on the shape of the helmet. That's just how I did it but there are tons of different ways to measure your self for scaling.

never thought of that but my wife would kick my a$$ for marking up the wall.. lol. might use a piece of paper and do it on the floor. lol.

Thanks a lot John, but I already know how big my melon is. I meant how do I change it in Pep, firstly from the original size of the helmet, like what buttons do I press, and secondly, how do I change that from inches to millimetres. Oh, and also, I hope to god when you said "measure your head" you meant all the way around, from the front of the forehead, to the front of the forehead. Otherwise that helmet is going to be effing HUGE. But thanks a lot for that idea anyway.
EDIT: Also thank you to Gallard. Didn't realize that, I was trying to make my Grunty armour "life size." I hope I don't have to tell you that it didn't work. If I did that, one peice would be slightly bigger than an entire page. 0.0

And looking at the pictures, after you resin it and such, you might want to cut out the inside area. Don't know how to say it. But its the stuff coming into the helm. That will get in your way when you try to put it on. Cut it off afert you resin/harden it. Makes things easier.

I was thinking the same thing Steve I'm going to wait and see how it turns out but i might trim it back a little. I have an Idea on how to use it to hold the visor in place. I thought that after it was hardened I could cut a slit in the top half about 6" long the a slit in the bottom all the way across. And when I cut the visor to fit I'd leave a 6" tab on the top and a little extra out the bottom. Then just insert tab A into slot B and hot glue the bottom. Good thing I build 2 of these I can try it on the little one and if it works use it on the big one.

James: Yep you gave me the right measurement, I know how big my head is and used the numbers you gave me(which are very close to my own) made a few adjustments and built the helm. I built the larger one for you to accommodate more padding and all that other fun stuff.

very nice job so far!!! Do you plan to go full recon??? (chest and biceps too)

That would look sweet! I was thinking about doing a recon chest for myself!

Hey. I know you made it the right size. I printed off a handplate and it's effing HUGE. I don't know how to make it smaller but I am going to try it before I make it smaller and stuff. Kuz I don't even know what to do.... yeah... Byez

Looks killer I did the recon from belacors files for my first finished helmet along with the shoulder and chest attachment just need to finish the rest to use em lol. Good Job!

Gallard: I do plan on doing the chest and biceps eventually, and from what I've seen the rest is the Mark VI suit right(if there are any other differences feel free to let me know) and plan on doing those parts as well for a full suit. It's going to be a different colour so my Master Chief stuff wont work. I eventually want to do a hole hall of armor thing when I have the room.

James: if you have pep designer then use the 2d menu. Then just measure, convert(use the internet for this just type inches to mm in the search bar) and plug in the numbers. I suggest using the width I find it's a better fit.

Privateer: Thanx

Oh I figured out how to resize the stuff. Here's the wicked part: The Pepakura 3 on my mom's laptop (the computer I'm on right now, basically the only one I use) Has the buttons and stuff, but my uncle's desktop, which has the printer, doesn't have the same buttons. I can take a screenshot, but I don't know what the problem is. I think I need to re download it on my desktop. I will, but I'm not sure it will solve the problem. Any tips?

Update time again. I finished the resin stage of the Recon helm, got 1 thin coat and 2 thick coats of resin on it. I then whipped up a batch of rondo and slushed the inside. Now it's on to sanding the outside, once I know where the problem areas are I'll start to bondo.
