This is a neat little link for wiring up LED's and getting the resistors right. Works pretty good too.
Lets you pick an arangement, input voltage, all that and it gives you everything..
When I finally figure out what I'm going to make my armor out of, as well as save up to buy all the stuff I'll need (*cringe), I'll probably implement some of this stuff into the armor. I'll probably need a few fans, because I plan to use mine in paintball (nothing more frightening then the master chief!). In fact, If I can find a small, cheap LCD (very small, very cheap!), another cheap greyscale camera and some more infra-red LEDs I could implement one of my night vision systems! Yeah, who would have the best suit then?
im from a modding forum www.acidmods.com and we do all kinds of cool stuff, but thats not the point. i know alot about wiring and if anyone needs any help with leds and how to wire them plus different kinds of switces and whatnot im here to help
I just got done with my lights yesterday.. I used blue instead of white.
Blue is "cooler"
I also used a "hands-free" switch so I don't hae to try and wrestle with my armor and try to reach around my helmet.
I used a 4-aa battery pack and wired up my led's in parallel (2 per resistor, I think 39ohm I used). Ended up being 18or so mA with 25mA max diodes. Very bright white ones from radioshack, unfortunately they are quite dazzling to others so I can't really use them.
I really like the #276-080 led holders that radioshack has:
You can get push button switches, but they cost more. Also if you want I believe one of the Q&A crew has some "Hands Free" Switches, not sure what they are, but you can ask them.

one of my buddies on campus who has a cobalt mark V suit has a switch in his helmet he hits with his chin. not sure what type it was, but it works well when we're out messing around in our armor.

as this one. any push on push off spst switch will work. another way to do it is to place a simple momentary spst switch in the top of the helmet so when you're wearing it the light is on and when you're not wearing it the light is off.
this switch would be good for that type of working http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...oductId=3060978
