Alright guys I picked up a bunch of stuff today but didnt get much done due to paint drying and stuff, but I am prepped and hopefully get something started tomorrow.

Started painted the chest blue

Just look at all that smurfyness! lol
Also got the hoses painted to go on the helmet

WooHoo, decided to put the hoses in tonight instead!
Let me know what you think so far, I plan on doing something with the holes around where the hoses go into the helmet. I was thinking on using some craft foam to make little port covers so just wait and see what I do with it.

Eh no progress updates on the armor as of yet, but I donned the chest and helmet and had my wife help me tape on the shoulders and pack to pose for pics so let me know what you think. I cant wait to get paid so I can start glassing the shoulders and arms.

I know the chest needs to be higher, my wife was the one doing the taping. Lol. Also need to do some filler painting on the chest to smooth in the blue.
But let me know what you think and if you are as giddy as I am, I didnt want to take it off at all. lol

Ok guys so as promised here are some progress pics of the helmet details I was talking about earlier.

First off: I got the lenses in the sockets!

Second: I got the grille/vent thing put in the mouth piece

They were made with foam, scratch built by eye. I really like how it turned out myself.
Third: I made some foam port covers/washers, whatever you want to call them. to cover up the areas where the hoses went into the cheeks and to give it a better look.

And lastly: I need your opinions, I want to put the Ultramarine Omega in the forehead painted gold or blue, not sure which I want to do yet, but I need to know if you guys think its too thick to put on there or not?!?!?

So let me know what you guys think about that, also on a suggestion by another member I repainted the hoses a darker metallic gray, actually is the citadel bolt gun silver. lol

The Ultramar symbol does seem a little thick, but not enough to make it look bad. Actually, I think it looks great, just needs a little bit of finishing touches. I'd say paint it gold, since the armor is already mainly blue.

That looks really cool, man! Makes me want to build my own. By the way, are you planning to make more Space Marine armors? If yes, then build Techmarine suit (with fully working Servo-Harness, of course! =P). Keep up the good work, man!

and as you can see I added a skull to the earpiece and painted that to match what the miniatures had goin on:

Still have to add the laurels yet, but I will get to it I ran out of blue paint after doing the chest and I dont want to have mismatched colors of blue floating around on my armor so I wont post pics on that probably til about middle of the week.
But let me know what you think of what I have done so far!

And @John Awesome: I dont know what my next project will be after this one, I really want to finish my Mrk VI chief after I get this suit finished, hopefully have that done by halo 4 release

Hi, I just found your thread. I can't believe how few people are replying, because your suit is awesome!!! This is the kind of build I like following, lots of pictures, lots of updates, lots of skill! I look forward to seeing more progress! You have alot of determination to tackle this build, all the bondo and sanding on those big pieces... I salute your dedication.

PS: if you are still debating about what weapon to make, have you seen Thorsolli's chainswords?

you know what I really appreciate that comment, I was beginning to wonder if anyone really like 40k builds over here, I have posts over on ObscurusCrusade and I have a larger following there but oh well, what can you do.
Anyway, since you asked so nicely I have some updates for you.
Here is an update of the new heraldry I added to the helmet.

here are some pics of me wearing everything again, and the pack is on better this time. Much higher than last time.

And it seems I have a new problem I need to try to figure out, my lenses started to fog up just the little while I was wearing it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to conquer that? I know of some screen cleaner that has anti fog solution that I can use on it, but I was wondering if anyone has other suggestions.

Toothpaste. Rub it on and wash it off. Works great for scuba goggles

I like the laurels, how did you do them? Are they molded or cut from styrene sheet and stuck onto the helmet? Or something entirely different? Whatever you did, they look excellent. I see you also got a new avatar picture.

Actually they are just craft foam cut to size and glued on then a coat of sealant on top of that and painted. And yeah I figured the chief photo was getting a little old, I wanted something to reflect what I'm doin now. I wish I could change my username like that too. Lol

Nice. This is going to be quite the work of art when it is finished. Have you thought about strapping yet? I can only imaging that it will be hard to get pieces that size to behave themselves when you are moving around in them.

He needs but stare at them with righteous fury, or use allot of bands to hold it all together.

As far as strapping the pads on I was going to glass in some nylon straps to work with parachute clips to hold them on

Wow, great progress, looks like you had a bit of a marathon. It must be nice to not have to worry about the cardstock warping under its own weight now. How many layers of glass are you going to put in?

Well with the chest I only put two layers and then Rondo on after with these though I will probably only put two and then put a third on where I deem as a weak spot
