Have you built/made a costume before?: I've made a few soft cosplays by modifying other garments and made a few props, but I'm new to making armor.
Do you belong to any other costume communities? If so, which one(s)?: When I was a young teen I was on a forum named Soaring Hammer that did a lot of Halo prop making.

Welcome to the 405th! There’s plenty of tips for foamwork in the tutorials section. Some quick things I’d recommend are: get the proper tools (heat gun, rotary tool, contact cement, and a respirator), keep your blade SHARP, and don’t be afraid to remake pieces. Glad to have you here, and good luck!

Also we can really start UNSC, ONI and stuff... or at least, an annual mondial gathering, where we all come in cosplay. It would be awesome IMO.
I know, it's difficult (if not almost impossible) because everyone has commitments, schedules and things to do that don't allow you to get together for a day or two, but it would actually be a wonderful idea.

Some of the bigger cons (like in America/Canada) a number of us will travel from around the world to. At a number of conventions, a 405th meetup is organised. So it's a lot easier to organise big 405th meetups at cons!
