Se7enheads' Scout Helmet

i wish i would have tackled NZ-TK's HD version instead.

Nah, the older version's mesh isn't really that nice, the reason I re-released it, is because I wasn't happy with the shape around the bottom of the original, So I remodelled it becuase I intend to make the helmet myself at some stage.

i have a hard time "living" with something i am not truly satisfied with

I must say, you're doing a great job on that so far. I would offer you some polite suggestions but, looking at your work, its obvious you know what you're up to. Cant wait to see it all done :)

NZ_TK, I'm not at all one to belittle someone's constructive criticism, as a matter of fact, i thrive on it. pushes me to do better, and being as knowledgeable as you are, it would be welcome! Thanks again. :not worthy:

i have also cut in a groove on the front of the helmet, and though it is not exact (half tempted to fill it and try again unsure.gif ) i guess it's okay
Forgive me if this is unwanted but, I would suggest you fill it, and do it with the end of a square tipped bastard file, you can get a perfect even depth and width, then attack the edge of the etch line with your medium grit sponge, you'll get a perfectly curved bevel on the edge. Just get the cheapest one you can find, I think I paid about $3 for mine, its rubbish but it only gets used on bondo, so it lasts.

Edit; this is a picture of what I mean, you use the tip

Phenomenal. I'm just really unhappy with that groove, so i will definitely try this. It's rather difficult doing it with my dremel. Had to tape the hell out of it and the design was still off center and the depth was not uniform. Now, since i primed it, I assume i'd need to sand that area well before refilling the groove? And this file i assume can be bought from your local Home Depot or hardware store? And yes, I have considered your other suggestions...just scared that once i get it apart, I woun't be able to put it back together successfully.

Apologies to se7enheads for this thread veering off course,I would normally just delete this little jack off's mess, but I figure by leaving it up, people can see the response this type of rubbish is met with.

I WILL NOT TOLERATE LITTLE MAGGOTS PULLING THIS CRAP IN PEOPLES THREADS.
learn respect fast, or get beaten down fast, because my tolerance for idiocy is at an all time low.

Apologies to se7enheads again, sorry this is in your thread but, we have Alex to thank for it.

now, back on topic.

No prob. I didn't even understand the comment and I'm laid back enough to not take notice if it were to be a rude comment. Perhaps I am just not hip enough. No need to explain, cause I'd rather not get pissy if it comes to some sort of insult (which it appears to sound thus)

So here's the little bit of an update as promised. i fixed the grooves in the top of the helm that looked so horrendous and improved the Mark VI-esque vents. Primed again to see better the tiniest imperfections in an attempt to correct those as well. I also plan to create other smaller details that don't actually exist on the in game model. I just started drawing some out, and will provide more updates as they arrive. :)

Very nice work! I made the old scout Nztk model. Lets say my 5 pound dog smooshed it. Like he did my rogue. grr.....

ouch. That had to be VERY disappointing. Perhaps that's why I do not currently have pets. Heh. Thank you!

nice job. make sure you dont put on to much resin. and i would reccomend you also sand it.
Done and done. Well, not really done sanding, but everything else is pretty much there. Now for those details. If only I wasn't working. Not that I could be working too hard, if I'm on here. Heh. Thanks, though!
