My mixture ratio depends on how thin I want the rondo, and how fast I want it to set. For example, if I'm rondoing a large piece, I want a relatively thin, fast setting mixture, so about 50/50 bondo-resin and a little more hardener than ususal.
Just wanted to post a very quick update. I haven't gotten a lot done since work's started back up, but here ya go for now...
the right thigh
I'm nearing the end of the pepping phase with only the left thigh, knees and shins left to pep. Then I'll have another resin/rondo day and I'll be even closer to completion.
Thanks for the comments so far. I've been a little busy repepping the torso section. I decided to take a few extra steps to ensure the strength of the final product. I decided to back the larger pieces with 1/2" foam core and the smaller pieces that need reinforcement with 1/4" foam core.
Can anyone on 405th point me in the right direction where i would go to order this type of foam core. From either Australia or International stores as close to both the 6mm and 12mm thickness that Carpathian uses, thanks in advance.
Well, the suit is fully pepped. I finished the last parts today. Here's the progress pics...
The right thigh you've already seen, but here's the left as well...
A picture of the knees. This is the file modeled by Chevysrule and unfolded by me. They look a bit big, but if you look at the picture of Carter, his knees are a bit large...
And finally, the shins/boot covers. These are Rundown's files modified slightly to remove the knee portion and attach the upper-front parts to the rest of the shin...
Now that everything is built, I just have to find the time to resin, harden and bondo everything, then I can focus on painting, padding and finishing. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
WOW
You work really fast man O.O
I`ve only got the right shoulder attachment pepped, a mis-made thigh (which I`m going to restart) and some good progress on a right Rundown shin :l
If only I could work fast like that :O
Yo, I'm workin' on a carter helmet too, but I've had to modify the hole where I put my head in so that I can fit it in, I'll have a picture tomorrow and post it here, but is it fine?
I actually had to do that as well. If you want, go ahead and post a pic here. I could too I guess, but I figured it's not a modification that warrants recognition since most of the helmets that people build have to have the openings widened some (especially the MKVI).
While I'm posting, here's a quick update on my right shoulder and how it will work...
The back panel still has to be secured a bit better and it has to be painted, but it's coming along.
