Everything looks good, but I think the helmet looks too skinny on the sides, and the boots kinda look small in the last pic. Nice job on your first build though!
I knew thead be a few 405th'rs around haha. Yeah cheers bro, It was a bit hectic walking around the expo, A lot of eager people wanting photos, barley had time to look around, was so keen to take a closer look at that 501st booth
I know what you mean! Walking around in bulky armor that restricts your movement and vision can be difficult in crowds like that. You should get a chance for a better look next year as it will be back and better than ever

Haha cheers, yeah I had to bring in the sides to have a snugger fit, so i chopped out some sections, The trouble with free hand building is scaling since you kinda have to wing it.

I know there will definately be some of our members there, not 100% sure whether I will be able to make it yet as I'm based in New Plymouth over summer and Wellington during the year, but I'll definately try to make it.
can i ask what kind of paint was used and what method to apply them?
also was there a method to smooth out the parts of the foam that were glued together to make it seem like a solid piece? (like corners connecting together?)

The paint i used was just standard all purpose spray paint that i picked up at a hardware store, I did an undercoat of metallic charcoal, let it set, and then went over with white, to get the weathered look i used a rough rag and quickly rubbed away the wet white to reveal the undercoat. easy as that.
To smooth out pieces is easy, just use a really low grade sand paper, and be patient haha, foam can be sanded surprisingly, just takes time.
You are correct sir , all freehand, just winged it and hoped for the best . Thanks heaps bro thats the most positive feedback ive had yet, really appreciate it
Very stellar for the freehand my friend. Quick question, what paints are you using on your armor? and did you paint it straight on or use anything for a base coat?
